  • Back where I belong

I've been gone from the board for a while. My son graduated from high school and life and emotions got me off track. Too much to do and not enough of me to focus clearly.

I fell into chocolate to handle the stress, it didn't really help the stress, just made my clothes tight.

Atkins works, I'm still down 40 pounds and have 40-50 to go. I love this board and the support. I need it because I still don't feel strong enough to do this without the support of you guys.

I have my food, my exercise plans and am planning to hold on and get to goal.

    I'm glad to be back.

sandy don't fret!! my son graduated two years ago and while he does go to school 2 hours away, i see him a LOT! in fact, most of the summer so far. and i have a really cool place to go and visit when he is in SD. and it is fun having that adult child relationship. and it is fun to see him really becoming a man!!!

sorry to jack here but i wanted to say that growing up kids can be a really GOOD THING! it is different but still fun.

so yes caryl, CONGRATS! i forgot to add that before!

I wondered where you'd been, Missy! You'd better be glad you came back before I got the posse out after you!

Welcome back, and just start doing what you know is right to do.

                  Re: Back where I belong

I was gone for a while and now I am back for 16 days now .
Our youngest just graduated too last month , in fact they got to pick up the certificates and thier transcripts today.
We have three married kids that each have at last two kids, well one has one and one on the way, lol, and I am only 48 and my husband will be 47 in Aug, so I understand how your kids can turn you upside down emotionally !! We have had to send our oldest son off to Iraq twice, and welcomed him home safe too so our baby graduating just seemed a bit less stressful than the weddings and army stuff, but it still was a busy crazy month and I can see how chocolate came into the picture, I ate a lot I should not have too with company here and everything. The important thing is, you are back and that is great !! You will get to goal in no time if you put your mind to it !! You cannot let life get to you, believe me I have learned the kids will keep you on a roller coaster, even if it is good stuff, it is crazy !! I have had to learn that when things get crazy or emotional, chocolate is not my friend, lol !!
I wish you the best on the journey you have taken back up, with the help of the board, you will do great !!

                  first goal
219 , that will be very exciting !!

                    Re: Back where I belong

Thanks for the welcome back! It's nice to come back to where people understand what you're going through.

So far today I'm doing fine--have had some random thoughts about chocolate, but stayed away. I'm feeling good and looking forward to exercising tonight. I've been visiting the bathroom a lot, so that's a good sign.

It was pretty hard in May when every night was a "last time" event. They were all great and exciting, just a little tough to see this chapter ending. But, there's a new one opening, so I get to look forward to all the new stuff. Not to mention that there may be a little more time for "me" now, too. I still have the almost 14 year old daughter, so there's plenty to stay active with.

I'll check in on you, Sunny--hope you're feeling well. Good to see you back!

I'm glad son is just going an hour away instead of Iraq, Stephie. I'm so glad your son came home safe--I hope he knows how many of us pray for their safety, and how proud we are of our soldiers.

Thanks, Alexa, Jess and Tomorrow! We'll do this together. I've come a long way in the last year and I'm going to go for goal!

Thanks for the encouragement, Betsy. I'm looking forward to a more adult relationship with him. It's just I've been "mom" pretty much first and always for 18 years and I see the end of that time approaching rapidly. Now I have to decide what else I'm going to do with my time and energy. I want to have enough energy and health to enjoy it, so that's another reason for Atkins forever.

Congrats on your son, too, Sandy! It's kinda nervewracking wondering "what's next". But, we're tough, strong women and we've done the best we can with the kids, so it's about to be our turn.

Let's make it a great day!
