  • It's been about 6 weeks

So far, smooth sailing. I've kept carbs pretty close to induction levels for the past month. I did get sacked by some hidden carbs, BBQ chicken and my MIL's coleslaw......some things are just worth it on occasion. I didn't see it coming.

I think the one big obstacle that I refuse to beat myself up over is that sometimes even with good intentions, stuff happens. I wasn't upset with myself nor did I throw up my hands and go throw back some other food I know isn't going to help me get on down the road. It happened, so did a couple light beers....on two occasions. That's life. You just pick it up where you left off. Maybe it put me a couple days longer "getting there" but I won't stress over it again, I'm guilt free.

I have lost right at 30 lb's so far. My initial goal was 50 gone by Sturgis time, the first full week in Aug. I think I can make it. If not I'll be darned close. My second phase goal was to be down 100 by the new year, '09. We're booking a cruise for all of us in January so I'm going to have to step it up, start lifting weights again and get in a bit more walking too.

It's embarrassing to say but I've never been able to bring myself to even go swimming with the kids because I'd be humiliated if I did. This is going to be a once in a lifetime vacation for us & I want to make the most of it.

I started at 313, now am 282 and ideally should be around 185 so I still have a long way to go. I feel a heck of a lot better even now though. 30 lb's ago I would get up in the morning and barely be able to walk for the first 15 feet or so, had to get warmed up. My energy level is higher and I just generally feel good about myself.

Thanks for your support, it's no diet, it's a lifestyle change.

kb - Thrilled that it is going so well for you. But I do want to caution you about setting goals with time limits. Many, many people have plateaus and stalls on this program. Even if the weight loss is steady, the further you get from the high weight you started at, the slower the pounds want to come off. Just wanted to give you a heads up on this because it is discouraging when it happens so you need to be mentally prepared to be OK with things if you don't meet (or even come close) to your schedule. However, having said that I think you should live it up and swim or do whatever you want on the cruise, because bottom line is nobody on that cruise cares what you weigh and you will never see them again anyway. Europeans go out in all body shapes and sizes in bikinis and speedos and never blink an eye. For some reason those of us on this side of the pond have a lot more hangups. Don't let it hold you back from having the time of your life! I will keep my fingers crossed that you make your goals and are one of the lucky ones.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

      Hi Jill,

That's what makes me tick. I do my best under pressure.
Thanks for the kind advise though,

Great job on the -30!! Use the incentive to be health and active with your kids. They'll get you right there in the heart every time Mine have a great way of reminding me of something "You know, mom, that's not what you really want...is it?". Yep, they know what works.

You have a great attitude about not beating yourself up over little mistakes and that will really help you stay focused and help keep you from bingeing. Good luck. We are all rooting for you!
