  • Second time's the charm

    Hello everyone,
My name is Kiki! My first time on Atkins I lost 30lbs and kept it off for 3 years. I am currently on day 7 of induction and down 6lbs. I would like to lose 50lbs. I have a ways to go. Mentally, I still want chocolate, and want to eat, even though I am not hungry. I need to find a new habit besides eating. I am really inspired by reading the stories, I need all the help I can get. Wish me luck!

Welcome!! I found that I had the same problems as well. I wanted to eat out of habit not hunger. I started to do Word Seek puzzles to replace that, it's been really nice because now I watch less TV which is always good. Check out PennyPress.com they have really cool puzzles if you're into that.

You've done this before so you know it works! Good luck and keeps us posted!

Hello Kiki, stay focused and resist temptation. I want a beer so bad, but I havent had 1 in over 2 1/2 years. When I get really tempted I say, "maybe I'll have 1 tomorrow". And when tomorrow comes, I made it 1 more day. We all have our temptations we must overcome, we just have to stay strong to defeat them. Stay motivated and keep the faith. In no time you'll be where you want to be. God Bless, Joe

        Re: Second time's the charm

Hi Kiki. I was having a hard time getting going again because of that wanting to eat mentally rather than physically. I had to restart my Induction 14 days in because I'd blown it.

Someone (that would be billbazz) suggested I take Dr. Atkin's advice and get myself some L-glutamine. It works like a charm. I just had some about 20 minutes ago because I was feeling week. Bam, the feeling's gone. Believe me, it's worth the try.

        Stay strong!

Welcome Kiki! I just drink more water and keep telling myself that my end goal is WAY more important than (substitutute whatever your food temptation is). If your head is in the right place, it'll work. A lot of other people are offering up their 'secrets' too...I'm sure you'll find one that works for you. You can do it!

Speaking of chocolate and temptation, I crossed a pretty big milestone yesterday. I have colleagues from Belgium in and they brought me a big box of Belgian chocolates (the absolute best in the world!) I was so tempted...just have one...they are SO good and my colleagues went out of their way to bring them, etc etc etc. I almost grabbed one when that little guardian angel on my shoulder said NO WAY. DON'T GO THERE. YOU'VE MADE GOOD PROGRESS AND THAT ONE BITE WILL DERAIL IT ALL. And y'know what? I resisted! I felt so good and proud, which was a way better feeling than the guilt when I cheated.

                Hi Kiki!

You know, the one thing I had to force myself to remember is that the first few days can be hard, but then it becomes a no-brainer. I'm halfway through my second week and I am just now getting to the point where I don't crave chocolate, bread or potatoes - not even a little. I even watered my garden this evening and didn't whine over the beautiful potatoes that I know are in the ground waiting to be dug up. Hubby can have them, I'll just tend them. It gets easier as you go.

                2nd goal: 25 pounds by July 29

                End goal: Who knows?
