  • I'm looking forward to this journey with y'all!

    Hello!

My name is Kelly and about four years ago, I lost 45 pounds in about 4 1/2 months. I can't say that I followed Atkins 100%. (Hope that doesn't get me kicked out of the group!)

I get Induction pretty well but like a lot of people, the whole ladder, rungs, etc scares me. I've read the book several times but I'm in the process of moving right now and my DANDR is packed.

Four years ago when I went from 210-165 I felt great. I'm 5'10" and I'm really happy between 165-175. I've stayed there for the past four years by keeping the carbs pretty low. Under 50 grams per day. I've had some fluctuations but mostly stayed between 165-175.

So, guess what? On April 30 I quit smoking. For the past 20 years, I have smoked over a pack a day. I went ahead and mentally prepared myself for the weight gain. I even bought some size 14s in preparation. Some days I'm ok with it and some days I'm not. Today I'm not.

A month ago, I started a beginner's run/walk program. I do this six days a week. This is huge because I have never exercised in my entire life. I think this is the reason that my quitting smoking weight gain has not been more.

I have eaten everything I can get my hands on. I've had dessert at Carraba's. I've eaten subs from Publix. I've had so much sugar free junk and frankenfoods, I'm surprised I haven't turned into a low carb breakfast bar.

Tomorrow I'm going on a strict, clean Induction. Right now, I weigh about 186 pounds which means I need to lose between 11-21 pounds.

The fun part is that I'm going on my annual trip to the beach on Wednesday with my college buddies. We eat and then we eat some more. I thought about putting off induction until I got back but then I'd probably have 16-26 pounds to lose instead. So I figure I've already lost five pounds before I even get started!

    Thanks for listening!
