  • I need to join the STAC.....

    I originally frequented this board in 2005 but fell off the wagon. I had a baby in 2006. Here I am in 2008 at my heaviest weight ever. I'm now buying plus size clothing, which I never had to do before I got pregnant this last time, so I'm feeling old (40), fat, and dumpy. I started the year at 197 lbs on my 5 foot 4 inch frame. When I started Atkins on July 5th, I was at 190 lbs. I had managed to lose 10 lbs earlier in the year following Weight Watchers, but I was starving, so I cheated a lot and eventually fell off that wagon too. I like Atkins because I feel full, and when I'm full I don't cheat.

    My DH is following Atkins with me, but he's not as into reading about it as I am. He did read the induction food list, but basically relies on me to tell him what's legal. So, I'm getting support, in that he's not sabotaging me and he's following along too, but he's no expert on the program.

    So, here we are. Oh, and I'm going to the movies with my sister tomorrow. One of my favorite foods in the whole world is movie theater popcorn. So, I'm gonna fill up before I go on something with fat in it so I'm not tempted.

    Susan, microwave a couple of slices of American cheese (not the processed stuff) for about a minute and a half. If you cut it into small pieces they toast crisp and taste like Cheezits. That might help with your popcorn deprivations.

      I just got back from the movies, and I made the 'Cheese Its', and it was so good! I wasn't even tempted by the popcorn!! Make sure you use parchment paper to microwave your cheese slices. Use the Deluxe kind. I cut mine into tiny squares, and nuke them for 60 seconds. YUMMY!!

        Welcome to STAC! Come on in and make yourself at home. Lot's of successful second timers here.

        I can't help you with the popcorn problem. I don't go to movies because the smell of popcorn makes me sick. I do find that pork rinds function as a substitute for any crunchy, salty snack.

          Welcome back!

          We don't hit the movie theather either---cost too much, but we do hit the drive-in theater often (we can bring our own!).

          The pork rinds are great---especially if you can take a zip loc baggie of some shaken with 1 pkt of splenda and a couple shakes of cinnamon....shake shake shake and you'll have a nice treat

          Sounds like you have great support system with your hubby there!
