  • Here I go again....

    Hello Everyone,

I am a second timer on Atkins and I just completed my 2 week induction. My husband lost 11 lbs. and I have lost 8.5 lbs. We have decided to stay on induction for another week. We feel really good. I did Atkins in2003-4 I didn't keep any records but I lost about 35 lbs. This time around I have measured everything and I have started weight training. I will start walking again after my ankle heals from a sprain.

I am very motivated to go through my 50's and beyond without everyday being controlled by wieght/food/guilt. I am addicted to carbs/sugar and I am amazed at how good I feel and I haven't missed the bread. My headaches have ceased and that is a real incentive not to return to those bad habits.

I do have a question about supplements. Does anyone recommend a certain brand. I am on a limited budget but I know I need them. I see that the Atkin's website doesn't sell them anymore. Any suggestions?

Welcome back!!!!!! I agree with you about how great it feels to finally kick the carbs to the curb. I personally use One-a-Day for men because it doesn't have iron, which Dr. Atkins recommends. I'm not sure if the One-a-Day for women is similar, but definitely get something without iron. One of my friends uses Centrum Silver and she is aware of the iron recommendation. Maybe that will work?

      You are doing awesome!

Centrum Silver is fine, and look when you are in the stores, most stores have their own 'version' of the name brand vitamins, that will save you a little money.

And ditto to the 'no iron.' No supplemental iron unless blood work says you are low, too much iron is bad for the heart.

Pats on the back for both of you!
