  • Who am I Kidding?

Hello...This is my second time around to do Atkins and I have to say that it's really been rough.

The first week, I did fine. I lost 7 pounds and I was feeling really pumped.

Then, I got an abscessed tooth and was sick as a dog for about four days. I couldn't keep anything down for 3 of those. I tried eggs and that was a real mistake. So, I finally switched to ginger ale and crackers. It was all I could keep down. Once I got enough antibiotics in my system, then I left for a trip to Las Vegas my husband scheduled as we couldn't get out of. Thank God I was feeling well enough to go! Needless to say, while on the trip, I "tried" to do Atkins there, I was really tempted to eat more carbs than I'm supposed to on Induction. I did try to think about better carb choices, but still found myself grabbing for things that weren't good for induction. But, I did walk a great deal on the trip as we didn't have a car...so I guess that was a good thing.

I've been back two days now and have had more bad news about my tooth...I can't have it pulled until I get a clean bill of health from my doctor... she ran an ekg that shows something wrong with my heart! So, this week I'm off to see the cardiologist to get that cleared up so that I can get my aching tooth out. And, I'll be on antibiotics until then--which if you're a woman you know what that means....uggh.

I'm just really NOT in the mood to think about Atkins or about exercising or anything. I just want to have a pity party and just lay up in the bed holding my sore jaw! lol!

But, I know I'll feel better if I DO think about this and if I DO try....

You know, my mother in law says that your 40's are the repair years. I really believe she's on to something....I also think they are the years when you either really GROW UP or simply decide to give in..... It's just like this little insert here--a constant fight with yourself.

Thus, my title --Who am I kidding?

I started out this morning all pumped to begin again with a 2 egg breakfast--all ready to do this woe "right." Then I picked up my dd from soccer practice and she wanted Taco Bell for lunch, so what did I do? Without even thinking, I ordered AND ATE a grilled stuff burrito with baha sauce, no rice or beans, and also had a couple of swallows of my son's regular Pepsi. Just NOT thinking. So, I've blown it for today, too.

According to this website that calculates Taco Bell food (which may or may not be accurate), I've had 48 carbs when I subtract the fiber and sugars. So, I guess I'll eat a piece of pork chop for dinner and be even more focused tomorrow..... Here's the website for that: TB Nutrition Summary For Your Meal

Well, anyway, I'm going to do better. I'm whining, I know. And I need to go work out, but it's 100 degrees here and I just want to lay on the couch and stay cool and hold my aching jaw. Uggh....

Sorry to be so depressing. Do you think there's a silver lining in here anywhere?

I personally would get the tooth thing sorted out before continuing with Atkins. A friend was in a situation where he couldn't dedicate himself to the diet as much as he wanted and he ended up just not doing it ever again and is still heavy today. You know how quickly and well this diet works, so it will be there waiting for you when you're healthy enough to fully commit to it.

      there is a silver lining....
1 you are posting, you are thinking about how to fix it
2 if there is a heart problem, they have found it sooner than lter
3 all the more reason to get healthy NOW!

Get going tommorrow, day 1 out of 14
I'm restarting Monday (gotta gear up my kitchen)
A staple for those puke up you toenails days:
      canned chicken broth
      bring to a boil
slowly pour in a scrambled egg
and you have egg drop soup.
as you fell better toss in some grated cabbage, a few green beans or any other induction friendly veggie.
      Feel better soon!
restart 16-18/8-12 (crazy sizing)/love to get into some 6's
