  • Losing slower than I'd like...

The first time that I was on Atkins, part of what kept me motivated was the significant amount of weight loss in a short amount of time. Although I admit i've been successful in losing fourteen pounds in 16 days, it has been coming off significantly slower than my first time around (and I'm at a comparable weight).
I have even added exercise in my regime this time around, including bicycling riding, home cardio, and light weight training.
Can anyone shed light as to why this is happening or what I can do better?
(Cheat free for sixteen days..despite endless temptation).

Re: Losing slower than I'd like...

Many people here would be envious of 14 pounds in 16 days so I doubt the phrase "Losing slower than I'd like" will hold water!

Unfortunately, there are too many factors that have changed between the first time and this time -- you're exercising which adds muscle and retains some water for recovery purposes, you're older, you're likely not eating the EXACT same foods or quantities that you were last time...

At some point you need to stop making comparisons to previous attempts or others' experiences. Instead remind yourself that you didn't put it all on in day and you won't be taking it off quickly either. However, if done correctly, you should be losing without nasty side effects including constant hunger and tiredness. Push the negative thoughts out of the way, focus on the positive changes you ARE seeing this time around, and you will do just fine.

Also, this is a way of eating for life. If you expect to lose the weight & then are okay with the loss and say, ok i'm done, it will not work. (long term),not that that's what you are doing, don't rush it, you didn't just wake up one day and you were overweight, right? Be happy that you are losing and on the right track again.

            Good Luck,
