  • Roll Call 8-13

Ok, well another day. Day #4 for me. Yesterday I hit the carb wall, that place where your body is getting ready to flip the switch from burning carbs for energy to burning fat. I am sure I threw my body head-long right into that by swimming in the morning. Today I will jog pretty early, just getting it done before the fatigue hits.

Knowing Atkins and knowing my body is really an advantage at this point in the whole process. I know what to expect here and I know how my body will handle certain things. I can talk myself through the rough patches.

Self talk is huge in my world. It is here I remind myself what I am going for, what I want and how I need to calm myself down and work things out! Working Atkins, because I am convinced without a doubt that it works for me.
Telling myself all sorts of positive things also keeps me focused and moving forward.
Yesterday I tucked into bed early because I knew sleep would help with the fatigue. I also ate my favorite low carb foods because satisfaction helps when the longing for easier stuff came up. I tell myself what I am going to do. Because I am going to have to do this for a very long time, because it's not a diet, it's a way of living. Modifying it and myself to be here long term is my ultimate goal! I am not going anywhere!

How true your words are Jess~~this is not a diet but a way of living. I believe that until we realize that Atkins can be a struggle.

Have a wonderful day eveyone! I'm on the vacation countdown! Friday @ 3:31 the fun begins!!

            Morning!

A little bloated - can feel it in my hands - eeww

Going to spin in a little bit - I also need to work my lower body - reckon I'll hit it after spin class...

I tried a new class the the gym the other day - Body Combat - a mixed martial arts class. I felt like a dork - totally uncoordinated and punched like a girl. I really didn't think it was a great workout -until I woke up yesterday morning - OMG - my back, shoulders and arms were so sore, it felt FABULOUS! Needless to say, I'll be going back, because it hurt me and I don't want to punch like a girl...

Having some pals over tonight for Tai chicken & shrimp kabobs, slaw and lemon mousse ( and some cocktails) These are new recipes - we'll see how they work out!

Have a fantastic hump day all!

                Re: Roll Call 8-13

Happy, Wednesday! I couldn't resist trying the scale this morning and I entered a new decade. 219! So looking forward to the 20?'s soon! Anyway so far 10 pounds gone in my 2 weeks of induction. And it isn't over until Monday so hoping to see more but if not then I'm just over the moon with 10 pounds!
Going to lunch with my dad. My husband is feeling better and Lena seems a lot less cranky so hoping today is a much better day.
BTW I'm thinking 185 for my goal. 185-190 is a size 8 to 10 for me and I think that is a great place to strive for.
restart 16-18/8-12 (crazy sizing)/love to get into some 6's

I have gotten a little off track the past few days. But I am back on track again. I didn't do too much damage. I spent last weekend camping with friends and you just can't pass up smore's.

                    Snacks to Go
Looking for a healthy snack you can take with you on the go? Look no further — I've got a savory treat for you: Cumin-Roasted Almonds! You can eat them as your scheduled snack, keep them at your desk or in your car to stave off grazing emergencies, or include them as your fat serving (depending on what kind of oxidizer you are — and if you're a slow oxidizer, go easy on these!).

                    Cumin-Roasted Almonds
                    58 calories per tablespoon
                    Ingredients
                    2 cups whole blanched almonds
                    2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
                    2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

                    Instructions
                    1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
                    2. Place almonds in a baking pan; toss with oil, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bake until lightly toasted, about 25 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
Variation: Use curry powder and cayenne pepper in place of cumin and black pepper.
To make ahead: The almonds will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
                    Cooking Information: Yield: 2 cups
