  • Tips when going On Vacation

Well Its Been 2 weeks and 1 day and I think I have been doing pretty well over all. I really have appreciated the positive feedback everyone has been helping me with. I am going out of town in a couple days and Im really concerned how I am going to be able to handle it. We are visiting family and I know last time it seemed like we went out to eat everyday. I am afraid i will not be able to stay on track, I Promise I am going to do my best, I am to this stage now other food i use to eat doesnt even look good to me anymore, But the smell is what bothers me, I dont want to get invited to go to dinner and just sit and watch. I am going to be strong I do not want to throw away the past 2 weeks for nothing. If you know what im saying. I need some ideas on what I could eat, I know i could just go to the store and i will But its always so busy when you are on vacation there not time to cook. I know we will probably be going to mexican food, and Applebees, and Who knows I might just Drink my meal instead of eat. I was also wondering when we go out I was wondering If drinking Jack and Diet Coke would be alright. I looked it up it says no carbs but How true is that. Thank you

Yeah just watch the mixers and you will be fine ... as long as you are not doing this too often. I mean you are on vacation. But stick to the diet. Too many people go on vaca and say ... ahhh I am on vacation and I am just going to splurge this one meal ...
That is a mistake and dont do it ... stick to the diet ... if you need/ want a drink just watch the mixers. I also dont mind the low carb beer but you still need to count them.

I ate Mexican on Sunday. I had a taco salad and didn't eat the shell. I didn't put salsa on top. It was fine and didn't kick me out of ketosis so I guess there weren't too many hidden carbs in there.

I'd also say to pack some cheese sticks and celery sticks to have on hand.

If you go to a restaurant that serves breakfast all day, you're set. You can have eggs or an omelette and still be fine.

Mexican is really hard for me. Chips and salsa...mmmmm...

I second the taco salad in that case. Also, most chain restaurants (Applebee's, Blackeyed Pea, etc.) have great salads. I prefer a good Cobb salad myself, and I've become the Cobb salad expert in my town.

The big thing too is to stay away from condiments like ketchup (sugar!). And, you can always get a hamburger and just not eat the bun.
