  • What's happening?

    Hi folk's
Well, i haven't cheated at all, i've given up the flavoured mineral water and haven't had any jello for the last few day's because of the aspartame content, i haven't eaten any vegetables, i have eaten very small amount's of carb's but certainly not any more than would amount to more than 5 or 10 a day.
I feel pretty good, no more headaches and my appetite, like the one i used to have is gone.
As for ketosis, for the last week i have been in the purple side of pink.
Thing is, for the last 2 or 3 day's my weight hasn't moved at all.
I have just had a couple of day's of work, could it be because i haven't been physical?
Oh, and i'm into my 12th day

I'm not letting it get me down and i'm not giving in.

    Regard's to you all

    Bob

    Re: What's happening?

Your body is probably just adjusting, based on what you are writing here and saying you have eaten no veggies, I think it might be goooooood to go back over the rules of induction in the DANDR book, which is the 2003 edition. I mean, if you are going to do it, you need to do it righ to see maximum results. 3 cups of veggies a day is where the carbs come from. There is a specific list you stay within.

Glad you are not getting down, your body is probably just taking a moment to see if you are serious. In the beginning we loose alot of excess water weight, which some people think is not legitmate, but your sticks are purple and if your appetite is diminished and you have energy, you are in the fat burning zone, and it will all happen at a manageable rate, your body makes sure of that....Now if you begin to get active, that will only make you healthier!

      Re: What's happening?

Thank's for the reply OJ, much appreciated.
What is the title of the book you have mentioned?, i'll have to get another one. I did have an Atkin's book the first time round (not sure if it's the same one your on about), but i gave it to my nephew for a read a couple of year's back, and haven't seen it since.
I'm only going on what i can remember, maybe i'm getting it wrong. Is it zero carb's for the first two days or first two week's?

      Cheer's

        Re: What's happening?

Hi, Swordfish, it is never 0 carbs. It is less than 20 carbs a day in induction, with the majority of your carbs coming from the veggies on the approved list.

DANDR is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution.

I am giving you a link about weight loss NOT being constant or evenly paced at all.

And the approved induction food list

        and the rules of induction.

        Those should help you out!

Hey Swordfish, just checking on you....Thanks Mom to Many for sending the links!
Great collective effort to support each other is what is sooo great about STAC.
So, swordfish, I really want to encourage you to read the book, because we can never get enough understanding to fuel our efforts. I keep a book in the bathroom....believe it or not. When I understand the dynamics of this diet, I can better place myself in a cooperative mode! It does work, and our bodies do have a timetable, but there is such a great feeling about knowing I did everything I could to help my body get healthy.
My body has lost a lot of weight, and it's done it at its own pace with stops and plateaus and I've learned to keep my eyes on the lifestyle and let the other things take care of themselves.

Thank's OJ. I'll order the book today now that you have reminded me.
I seem to have got over that flat spot i had earlier on, that's 9lb i've taken off now. Only another 150 to go.
The support and encouragement has been really good aswell, and that makes all the difference.
I don't think i could fail now......i'd get the feeling i was letting the side down.

                Re: What's happening?

I think worst than letting any of us down you really want to protect your own heart and not let yourself down. I know I am guilty of years and years of never keeping my own promises to myself...But i have to tell you, I have been so inspired by keeping promises to me! It's literally want gives me self confidence. I realized along the way I had lost trust in my own ability to do this! I did not believe in me. Once I gained that that trust and belief, by sticking to my plans and promises NO MATTER WHAT, things really improved. It gave me momentum. Reading the book gave me logical knowledge that proved true in my body and I used it to motivate myself with!

                  Re: What's happening?

Once I get well 'into' the Atkins style of eating, it isn't so much about pounds. When I am not eating empty carbs, (likely it is the not eating sugar) my head clears. I can look back and realize how foggy-headed I was when I was eating sugar. I like the clearheaded feeling way better!

Swordfish, any thrift stores near you that carry books? When I went to Goodwill last, there were two on the shelf, 25 cents each. Of if you have any of the 'half price' book stores, you could get them pretty economically too. Just a thought!

And I am so pleased for you about your 9 lbs, I am off to change my ticker, I dropped another pesky pound too! But even better, I woke up excited to face my day, instead of dragging out of bed. You can't beat that!

Sounds like Jess did too! Jess, you are always a joy to read. Have a great day all!

                    Re: What's happening?

                    Thank's again OJ and momtomany1.
For year's, most thing's i have attempted, i have either cut corner's to finish them at the last moment, or given up totally at some point through a complete lack of faith in myself.
I know if anything is possible, no matter how hard it may seem, it can be done with good result's, i've just got to push myself a little bit harder.
I can see the end result in my own head, and i know it's going to be a good one. I will be opening the door to many new thing's and i look forward's to that.
I've been given a key, and this time i'm going to use it.

I should have the book within the next couple of day's by the way
