ive been goin strong for a couple of months now and so far ive lost about 55 pounds. problem is im in the army and i have to go to the field for a couple of days starting friday and all that we will have to eat are mre's and they are high in carbs and i cant afford to get sick while im in the feild because there will be no bathrooms or anything like that. im thinkin i need to come off atkins today and go back on when i get back in order to make it through the couple of days in the feild. any one have any ideals or suggestions

You know, most of us have not had military "field" experience to lead you or suggest from. You know your body best, as far as what MRE's will do to you. I think you are wise to think ahead, and pre-condition your body. Watch out for that little voice inside that says, "ahhhh, since I'm doing this, I might as well enjoy myself"....you know that license to eat just about anything....

I agree with Outback Jess, but what the heck are MRE's? I'm new to this site and I don't yet know the lingo.
Also, Fatback, you may want to contact a good Atkins counselor on the Atkins site for some advice. Good luck!!

Military wife here. You are so right! Those things are FULL of carbs. To help out just a bit you might want to buy some of the Atkins bars to take and have instead of the little "desert" they stick in there. Also if they don't just fling 'em at ya maybe you could get the ones that have like a ham loaf or just meat without all the gravies and such. The Atkins drinks might help you along too if you can find room in your pack.

usually i have no choice and im so sure that what they call meat in those little pouches arent actually meat. soooo ive started eating rice and lots of peanuts and i actually could feel my body go out of ketosis but its ok life is full of challenge and im not gunna let this destroy my 6 pack i been cookin.

Good luck out in the field. Drink plenty of H20 & when you get back to base consider dropping down to Induction or Rung 1 for a week to get back into ketosis. Are you able to pack any food with you such as almonds?

im gunna bring a bunch of nuts n stuff anyway. and im def dropping back to induction its just gunna suck cause i got my body used to certain little cheats/ indulgences like a spoon full of peanutbutter ever now n then and now im gunna have to start over
