  • Roll Call Sept 2

    Good morning, STACers...
    So, how are all those goals setters doing out that. A goal will take you in a direction and provide something to work towards. Exercise is critical for your health and success here at Atkins.
    What can you do this month? What can you set out to improve at? Where can you go to become more Active? Fall is a great time for walks, and hikes. I love it.
    This month I will be finishing up the triathlon season by participating in a race on Sept. 20th. I've been training 2 young ladies for this race. They were so motivated and have worked so hard, that I finally signed up to do it with them.
    We have biked, run or swam 5 days a week. We have made room every day for training and this has been a huge endeavor for these gals. They did not have weight issues, but were trying to challenge their fitness!

    My goal this month is to train hard these next 2 weeks and complete the race and then return to low carb lifestyle completely by Oct 1st. This is a huge endeavor. When we step away from the structure of our diets and deal with this arena of food, it triggers all my issues....I enjoy sport, but need to return to my lifestyle! That is my earnest and honest goal.

    Hey there! I'm here... I'm on week 2 of my couch to 5k program - and I have to tell you, it's whipping my butt! Still, it does feel good to run again - albeit in short bursts.

      I'm here too,.......... but at present i seem to be built more for comfort than speed.
      But i've been there before and i know how good i can feel and i'm going there again.
      This time next year i'll be running up mountain's.

        I'm trying out for a roller derby league on the 14th. I'm not sure if I'm ready, and I'm scared, but I'm signed up and that's that. wish me luck!

          I went to water aerobics this morning.. It felt good.. I plan to do two days a week for a couple of weeks and then add on days..

          One thing I am proud of is that I said NO...No to my niece who needed a babysitter on Thursday while she goes to the dentist.. The reason I said no is cause that is my aerobics time.. and its time for me to take care of me.. Besides she is 4 years old and she can go with her...

              Ok, ok, I'm here, but {{ducks head}} I didn't manage to dust off the exercise bike just yet. I need to just DO it, I know. I'm so good at coming up with excuses and living my goals solely in my head, which of course, doesn't count. OK, I'm gonna do it right now..... I PROMISE!

                Jess, I feel like a total weenie next to you!

                Despite the fact that I've been walking regularly for years, I really got flabbed out. Seriously, everything is just a'flippin' and a'floppin' around and it's horrid. SO, today I got off my bodacious butt and signed up at Curves ... fortunately, I was able to sign a month-to-month contract and that makes it way more affordable for me.

                This perky silver-haired lady named Fay showed me how to work the circuit, twice, and by this time, I'm dying. Techno music is making my eardrums throb. Finally, I'm walking around to cool down and then Fay shows me The Rack (ruh roh!) ... a maze of bars and handles that's used for stretching post-circuit. I got through it but now I feel like a bowl of overcooked spaghetti!

                Taking tomorrow off to recuperate (except for a walk) and then I'll do three days a week until I work up some stamina and muscle, then five days a week to ramp up the weight loss, and when I finally hit maintenance - back to three days. I'm pretty durn pleased with myself! For someone who'd rather sit in front of the computer all day and draw digitally, this is major

                  I'm here too Day 8 for me, weighed in this morning and I'm down 5lbs. Walked this morning. This week is a bit crazy, lots of appts - just taking it one day at a time.

                        Well, I just got done with 30 minutes on the elliptical. I figured if I didn't do it now, I'd be too tired after I put the kids to bed. It feels good! We all start school again tomorrow, so it's going to be challenging to get the exercise in, but I'm going to try!

                          I am doing well, gotta get my bag packed for the gym tomorrow as I am going to try going before work instead of after, .... I have to work a double shift tomorrow so there is no way I could get to the gym, and today I had essential errands. But I have miles to start racking up!

                          Tomorrow is a happy day for me, we change uniforms to jeans and polos, and that was a major impetus in making me realize I HAD to lose weight. In the big black trousers I was wearing before I could just ignore it. Having to shop for jeans was such an eyeopener. See, I don't have a 'fat body image.' I was skinny until after having several of my kids. I have to actually look in the mirror really hard to see my true size.. or clothes shop. See I pull out things I could 'never' fit into until I try them on.. then it is truth time.

                          But I have the cutest 18 jean skirt and the cutest 18 jeans that I can actually zip and I lost enough love handle that the polos aren't making me feel like a complete blob, so I feel pretty good about things!

                          Sounds like most of us are doing pretty well today!

                            Wow i step away for a month or so and everything changes around here...only recognize a few faces. i have been on plan...mostly. But i need to refocus because the ccheat are becoming a little more frequent and harder to walk away from. i did avoid cheating today by instead going for strawberries and cream. It really helped me to avoid cake so i bought some blueberries too. i am making a lovely meatloaf for dinner this evening. i really really need to work on toning up. Starting to look pretty good in clothes and wearing clothing i actually saved from my thin days prior to marriage. But man nekkid run for you lives!!! So my goal for this month is to get out my fitball and yoga vids as well as hit the weight bench in the garage at least 3x per week. At least one strength training activity 3x per week that is. Anywho gotta get back to the food..starting to smell delish
