  • Atkins old-timer

I originally posted somewhere else here, then found this. I'm an Atkins die-hard and have used his way of eating since the 70's. I'm addicted to sugar-carbs so when I JUMP off the wagon, I'm off for 2-3 years as it's almost impossible to stop sugar! I have to do it! I'm so fed up with being controlled by a certain type of food. ARGH!

We all hear ya and understand the various triggers in our lives. Sugar is my husband's trigger, salt and fat are mine. Needless to say, Atkins isn't quite as hard on me as it is on him ... and he has absolutely no will-power at the office. If there's a cookie around, he'll find it ... but I know he's trying. I feel like his Mom by scolding him, but I want him to get through induction. We've still got a week to go.

Good luck to you! I know you can do it again.

This is my third day and I feel little to no craving for sugar now. Thank heavens Atkins still works for me like it always has. My tummy is down, my fingers are no longer swollen....I can feel it working. Thank you Dr. Atkins!!

Sugar! That stuff is evil ... but I did love it so ... oh well, no victory without sacrifice, right? Good health is a pretty good trade-off.

ssMarilyn ... how did you get the information at the bottom of your ticker? I'm having the dickens of a time getting my signature and the section at the top of each message setup the way I want it. (There's probably an official name for the top section, right?) Everyone seems to have lots of fun stuff on their messages, but I don't know how they are doing it.

When I made the final decision to break loose from sugar and go back to Atkins, I felt such a huge sense of relief, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Eating sugar via chocolate, donuts, etc... always made me feel guilty and disgusting, even though it all tasted so good. Once I had made up my mind, it was easy to stop eating the wrong things. The day before I started Induction, I was at the grocery store buying protien products and I walked by the deli and saw my FAVORITE thing - a Scotcheroo made with DARK chocolate. My body started to pull me over to pick one up, but my brain said, "keep going straight".. and I did. That was a huge hurdle for me to get over. I never realized until just recently, how often I would buy something sweet at the grocery store to eat in the car on the way home. A scotcheroo, a donut, a bag of dark chocolate M&M's, etc... I guess my subconscious figured it didn't count in my diet since it never made it from point A to point B. Now I just have to stay on this and get back to my normal weight. Thank heavens I don't like pastas or bread, so I only have one food group to battle. When I do get back to a decent weight, I have to come up with a strategy whereas I can enjoy a sweet ONCE IN AWHILE without jumping off the wagon. I don't ever want to do that again! It's misery....every day....depressing....sugar is a drug I think.

klmagill, when I was rigging up my weight banner, it asked me those questions, my starting weight, current, and goal weight, plus waist size and height. I just filled in the correct boxes and voila....it's there!

Hmmm ... well I did all of those things too (more than several times) but it doesn't display what yours does. Oh well, I'll keep working on it. I'm also working on a ticker from www.tickerfactory.com. Thanks for your help though!

That's just weird. I can't figure out how to put the numbers like you have under your photo.

I just typed them in using Edit Signature. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.
