  • So Close....

Well, for those of you not familiar with Cuban traditions and celebrations, today is a big day. We are celebrating La caridad del Cobre ( A virgin that appear in the water to three fisherman a long time ago) People from all over the country ask her for favors every day, and some of them swear that she answers them... Yesterday my some of the women in my family decided to get together and pray. But guess what they had right next to the virgin... You are right... ( capuccinos (not exactly coffee, but like a very sweet cake full of almibar and sugar) just the stuff your dentist and dietician warned you about) So, after we finished praying, it was time for eating the sweets. Well, I had to say THANKS, BUT NO. I don't think they were too happy about it, but they respected my decision.
I wasn't too happy today when I weighted myself and I had lost only 1 more pound in just one week, but I haven't been exercising because of the lack of time and to tell you the truth: exercise is not something that I like To top everything off I'm starting to miss the sugar in my life, but I know if I try at least a little, tiny bite of something sweet, I won't be able to keep this up

Congrats on staying strong thru a tempting situation!!

Exercise really pays off in results. I missed my workouts last week and it really affected my progress.

Hang in there!! You are doing so great!!

      Re: So Close....

I know how you feel. I keep getting lows lately where i just want to give up. The last 2 weekends i had 2 different events that i was so good at. I completely ignored the mini donuts at the fair and then i went to my families yearly corn roast and didnt even have corn or any of the other food or desserts that are forbidden. I lost 2 lbs in the last week even though it was a constant struggle. The only reason i manage to keep from cheating when i have my lows is that i have a smaller pair of pants that i can almost button (2 inches more off my waist and they will fit) and i try them on whenever i feel like giving in. Just seeing how close i am to buttoning them (couldnt get them all the way up when i started) gives me the will to go on.

Find something to aim for besides numbers on the scale. I like the pants because its something physical i can see besides a bunch of numbers on the scale or measuring tape.

So much of cultural traditions revolve around food. It's great you resisted the symbol of love that your family offered, but still participated in the event. It's hardest for me to stay strong when family is encouraging me to eat, eat...Good job, Carmen...
