this is my second time around. just started. I know that alchohal is not alowed in the introduction phase, but that fantastic glass of merlot after work is a treat. So I drank it anyway. I started 5 days ago and tested with Ketostips today and had moderate ketoese. Its all good news, I can have my wine and lose weight still. Anyone else having this. I would love to know Im not the only one.

Re: wine in introduction?
I had some alcohol on the 1st of September. That's why I started the induction the day after. A glass of wine doesn't have 30+ carbs, but your body burns that before fat. So it will delay the real fat burning your body is capable of. I am choosing to wait until after my induction to partake in wine. Believe me I love wine, but I really want to see what I am capable of burning being totally clean.

Re: wine in introduction?
your body will stop burning fat while it burns the alcohol in the wine, then you have to get yourself back in ketosis. 2 weeks really isn't all that long, just do it properly!

Re: wine in introduction?
Question: Are you following the Atkins way of eating or some Mediterranean diet?
Wine is not allowed in the plan until the OWL rung especially for alcohol.
Give the plan try the way it was designed. You'll be pleasantly surprised!~Lisa~

Re: wine in introduction?
If you look on the roll call for today you'll see that I chose to have a couple of vodka drinks on Friday night with a GF I'd not seen in 6 months. I am seeing the result, that I didn't lose the 3/4 pound yesterday that I had been seeing each day after Day 2. But getting right back to plan on Saturday was no problem for me. This week I have no plans for socializing that include drinks, so I expect I'll do Day 7-14 without any alcohol. Here's hoping your choices will give a positive result towards all the factors of your decision.redfoxglove

Re: wine in introduction?
Can't tell if I've already posted this...but if you look on today's roll call you'll see that on Friday I went to dinner with a GF I hadn't seen in 6 months. I deliberated for 2 days about whether I'd have drinks with dinner. Chose to have 2 drinks with an Atkins-appropriate dinner. Getting back to the plan on Saturday was not a problem for me. There is the consequence that I did not see the 3/4 pound loss that I had seen every day since Day 2, and I can't claim that I've done a "clean" induction. I'm okay with that, my goal says "successful induction". There are no plans for socializing this week that include drinks, so I expect to do Day 7-14 without any. Here's hoping that your choice will give positive results towards all of the factors of your decision.redfoxglove

Re: wine in introduction?
You are just fooling yourself. Alcohol in any form will register as ketones on the ketostix for up to three days after you drink it. It's called a false positive. You need to decide what you want more--losing pounds or having that glass of wine.People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
