okay okay.....I thought i could drink wine. on the weekends or one at night....yeah...it just knocked me right out of kentese. In the last week I have only lost 2lbs and dont feel ike Im losing anymore. Thoses dumb strips say trace and mild ketoese. I know people say dont use them...but they actually are very accutate with me. Anyway, NO MORE WINE. Does exercising get me into ketoeses. Or should I eat more fat...like steak and salmon and eggs for the next week? Geez this is much harder then last time. I have 35lbs to go. This is the stage i should be losing the most....and i got nothing.

    Re: okay admit it

Ditch the wine and eat more fat and exercise. You are in ketosis when it says trace or mild, unless you are drinking alcohol. Alcohol gives you a false positive on the ketostix for about two days after you drink it. Both eating fat and upping the exercise will get you into ketosis and burning fat. If you are following the rules and it says trace, then all is well. It's like a pregnancy test--either you are or you aren't.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

      Sunnysmile,

Thanks for the info on ketostix. I am in the moderate range and was worried that I needed to really analyze my diet for hidden carbs. I didn't know that the range wasn't as important as the actual color change. Makes me feel better

      Thanks,
      Tracy

Thank you for your advise. Its not that Im an alcholalic....gee is sounds that way doesn't it. Just one of those people who like having a glass of wine with my dinner.Boy did i get away with that wine thing the first around. I had just turned 21 and drank every weekend and still lost tons of weight......ohhh those were the days. Anyway I havent had any wine since last week and have lost another lb while still having the "pink" on the stick...Thank god its not that pregnancy test . Anyway. I walk for one hour every morning, then go to the gym for about 45 mins in the evening so I am getting pleanty of that. I have a question. Decaf is okay to drink right? as in tea and coffee. Can i put heavy cream in my coffee for added fat and (ummmm) taste? Thanks again everyone for the support.

sfriann, I really hear you on the wine thing. Just keep in mind we learn from our mistakes, and also later on you may be able to add the wine back in. Dr. Atkins mentions we can have a glass of wine 2-3 times per week on all phases once past Induction, if we are satisfied with our progress. It's in the DANDR somewhere, I can't post the page number right now. For me, it helps to know that some of the luxurious pleasures of life can be included in my lifetime plan, after I've learned how to do moderation.

Yes, you can have decaf coffee and tea. You can have heavy cream in it, too. Yum! You can't do that on low fat, low calorie! I just splurged on organic, grass fed heavy cream. It is so much better than the ultrapasteurized store stuff, but I can't afford to do it often.

know what i love most about atkins....I can eat, and not only that but the eating actualy helps me lose the weight. I always uses to practicly starve myself....because i thought food was bad. Its amazing to see results so quickly. A helpful hint: with football parties all over the place... (personaly im a college basketball fan) I bring celery to substatue for the chips and chrackers, then dip the celery in all the dips since they are (usually) full fat.
