Good morning STACers. I've been here, but just checking in.
I've been training with a group of women doing their first triathlon this saturday. Yeah it's almost here. They are all young and in great shape!
I am also coaching 5 overweight women in a 6 month journey to fitness in a program our church started called "Project Fitness".

As the coach, I've been able to pick the place and type exercise we do. I take them over to our clubhouse treadmill and weight room. It was there that I began my journey with fitness that eventually led me to triathlons.
Daily treks over to the treadmill walking and eventually jogging. Other days I dragged my stationary bike out and rode it. The point was "daily" progress in the exercise and movement arena of my life. Now it is the core of my day!
I am also studying to become certified as a trainer.

I tell all my girls, it's the half an hour a day that made all the difference in the slow turning of this big ship. My life was like a huge ship that way sailing in the wrong direction, but turning it took so much effort, I almost always quit before it was turned. Eventually I got so tired of half turns and quarter turns that I hung on for dear life and kept turning. My life is totally going another direction now! Because I did not quit, I just kept working and pressing towards my new direction. Eventually the ship turned and the sails filled with new life and air and I've begun to really move!

Our out of control food life and issues can be slowly, one day at a time, turned around!

    Good morning Stacers!

Great post Jess! My journey ship has been searching for the correct route & I think I've got it turned in the right direction once again. All of this is such hard work but well worth the effort.

Have a fantastic day everyone & be good to yourself!

          Re: Roll Call 9-17

Present! I'm currently out of town, but I have access to a computer. I'm still hanging on, even if it's by a thread, and have stayed true to the plan. After 4 weeks of Induction, I've lost approximately 5 lbs. I had to take a diuretic yesterday, and promptly lost 2 to 3 pounds of water that I'd been retaining for weeks.

Wish me luck, I'm scheduled to begin my first exercise challenge on the 21st.

Turning the ship around, huh? I feel like I'm in a canoe with one paddle. Just going around in circles...

I gave up caffeine Monday and methinks that has put me in a foul mood....

                Re: Roll Call 9-17

Hi all. I haven't posted here in a while because I've been so busy with our summer business but things are slowing down now so I'll have more time to spend here on the board.

I haven't been losing for the past 2 weeks, just maintaining but that's the way my body works. It needs time to adjust to the lower weight and I know this, so it doesn't bother me.

                Have a great day everyone!

My body has been adjusting since I started. I'm hoping that giving up caffeine--coffee and diet cokes will help.

Although I'm a much nicer, kinder person when I have caffeine. Maybe for the world's sake, I shouldn't worry about this last 10-15 pounds.

                    Re: Roll Call 9-17

Kelly, maybe there are some herbs or supplements that would help you transition from the caffeine? Earth Mother Sherri who posts on here seems to have a lot of info in this area...

Jess, I love the analogy of the big ship turning, and the inspiration of just doing a little at a time, how it builds up into where you are really motating! I want to hold that picture for myself. At different times in my life I've been active enough to realize I "could have been" a serious athlete if I'd put my mind to it...Your words inspire me, truly, to just get a start on it, and trust that the benefits will accumulate.

My caution right now is my history of jumping into an ambitious physical plan and trying to get fit in 3 weeks, then ending up injured. The problem is, once I get moving, it feels so darn good that I want to do more, and more, and more! So I'm making a promise to just do 15 minutes a day for the rest of this month. Einstein said the definition of madness is to do the same thing over and over, expecting the same result! Last year one thing that knocked me off my program is I progressed from doing Curves 3x/week to 5x/week, then joined Jazzercise 2x/week, then 3x/week...after about 3 weeks of that I "blew out" my right knee and was pretty crippled up for about a month...

Today is Day 10 of Induction for me, I am feeling really good about myself for my efforts. I have been doing a lot more cooking than I normally do, and I am proud of that, for a whole bunch of reasons. And I've got my thinking around to, I only have to be concerned with 3 days out of 7 about school. On 2 of 5 school days I get out of school at 11 am, so I can go home and cook and eat properly, therefore it's just 3 days that I have to be prepared with snacks that will travel.

Anyway this is a really long post, I probably should have put it somewhere besides check-in...hope everyone has a great day of small victories and new insights...

                    Goal 2: Lose 10% bodyweight, 19.6 pounds

Goal 3: Walk, exercise bike, golf, or yoga 15-30 min, 3x/wk. Consistency counts more than anything.
