  • Unsweet tea

OK, well, I haven't had caffeine for three days. (Monday morning at breakfast I had a glass of unsweet tea-no sweetener.)

This was pretty hard. Normally (Like for the past 25 years), I've drank a pot of coffee, six diet cokes/mt dew, and between a 1/2 gallon and gallon of water each day.

Yesterday was pretty bad. I was so tired in the afternoon that I could barely keep my head up. I kept doing jumping jacks. Of course, my students thought that was funny.

Then I started eating. Nothing that was illegal but I went way over my 20-25 carbs eating legal stuff. Just to stay awake.

    Caffeine withdrawal was pretty crappy.

ANYWAY, I feel like I'm over it, which is good. However, I'm already drinking almost a gallon of water and I want something different.

Does the good doctor say anything about unsweet tea? I know it has caffeine but nothing like coke or coffee...I don't want sweeteners in it--just iced unsweet tea.

(My book is in storage so if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.)

Buy decaf tea. Take 5 tea bags and soak them in about a quart or more of hot (not boiling or your tea will be bitter and acidic) for about an hour or 2. Dunk the bags a few times but not too much or it can also cause your tea to become acidic, pour into gallon jug and add cold water. It tastes pretty awful(and watered down) right after you make it so let it sit in the fridge for a couple hours to let the flavor distribute and it get cold.

    My fav mixes:

Stronger- 4 lipton tea bags and 1 Earl Gray(i dont know if earl gray comes in decaf)
Mellower- 3 lipton tea bags and 2 Green Tea

you can also switch out 1 or two bags for flavored teas like lemon or rasberry, just make sure they dont have sugar.

    Hope this helps

Can't verify this but I think I remember from Curves being told that regular black tea has quite a bit more caffeine than coffee. I know for me black tea, one cup, gives me the jitters as if I'd ordered a double shot espresso. Decaf doesn't seem to do that. I've really been enjoying Vanilla Creme tea (not decaf), and Chocolate Hazelnut decaf, both by Stash tea company. With some sweetener and a dash of creme, what a treat!

Yes, Earl Grey tea does come in decaf. I'm in Texas, so I don't know if your stores in Wisconsin have it or not. Good luck!
