  • Back Again!!!

    Hi all,

haven't been on for a bit so an update!!!

was working in holland for 5 weeks at a time away from my wife and child and everything was going brilliantly. i was on atkins for about 2-3 months and lost 28lbs, my clothes fitted me and my wife was over the moon with the effort id put in. then it all went wrong ha ha....i got a job back home in the uk and came off this way of eating and started bingeing ..eating anything my family had and put the weight back on. ive tried getting back on track a few times but have lasted 1-2 days until i got a job away from home again. iv'e been on atkins for 6 days but i have not got any scales so will weigh myself when i go home next friday. i think its because im away but its really easy once as i call it"iv'e got my head on" and i dont have any cravings even when my co-workers eat all their pizza , cakes etc

sorry for rambling but had too tell you what im feeling!!

good luck all and i'll be regular on here now , i just wish it was 2 months down the line again !!!

    Re: Back Again!!!

    Hi Mike,

Welcome back and good luck to you. I know it can be really hard to stay the course when you are away from home. I am definitely one of those people who has to "get my head on" when I decide to do anything, especially induction.

Hope the two months fly by and you lose the pounds (or stones -)

      Hey Mike,
Quick question- the last time when you lost 28 lbs- were you in induction the whole time, or did you move on to OWL after the 14 day induction? Just wondering how you got to lose all that weight.

      Thanks,
      Abbey

        Re: Back Again!!!

Boy do I know that feeling. I was on atkins once before from september till christmas and I lost 33 pounds. It's taken me a whole year to get back to this. A Year!! ugh! Oddly enough, for the first time in a year I am beginning to feel the same type of feeling I had back in those three months. That "I'm doing good" feeling.

I hope things go well for you.

          Re: Back Again!!!

I am so like that too - I was anxious before I decided to do the Atkins again becuase I would miss all my favourite foods (of course carbs lol) but the week before I decided to do it I told everyone I was going to do it so it would make me look a bit foolish if I decided to change my mind....I made sure I was not working for a couple of days to get over the first couple of days and then got to it.....like you once I got my "head on" I can honeslty say I am eating better than ever....and 4.5lbs gone in the first week is pure motivation....just wish I had measured myself last week but I didnt so made sure I did yesterday!!!

          Good luck....

              thanks for the replies!

abbeyrd1- yeah i just stayed on the induction phase like im doing now because i know what i can have and i know what i cant have. i used to have the odd cheat but didnt let it bother me and got back on track the next day. if id stayed on it god knows what i would look like now!!! never mind been back on 8 days now and its going well will weigh myself friday to see what ive lost(or not)although last night came home from work with the flu or something so not really eaten much today.

                Re: Back Again!!!

                Mike,

                Hope you start feeling better!

My first time around, I ONLY did induction - about 3 months worth. Never did any of the other stages as induction is just easier to keep up with like you said. I did probably increase my veggies a little - maybe 40g carbs instead of 20 after the 3 months. I also did find my point at which I would gain weight - I think it was around 150g or so, but I went for several years without gaining more than 3-4 pounds every once in a while (Christmas, and other holidays - which then came off afterwards).

I am planning to do the same thing this time, too. I hate that I have to be a second timer - I was on some meds that did a number on my metabolism and I put the weight on almost before I realized it was there and have been waiting for my body to actually let me lose some weight.

So, I can say that for those who want and depending on their health status can, induction for extended periods may be an ok thing to do. I didn't suffer any ill effects from it and am doing the same thing this time around, too.

                Good Luck!
