I've got a bit of a cold today and i'm feeling a little bit rough, in fact......i feel absolutely awfull.
It wasn't much different yesterday either.
I did a bit of cooking in the afternoon for the mother in law, i also made a Gypsy Tart for the wife. And that one is an absolute killer as far as carb's are concerned.
At the thought of blowing the Ketosis out the window for a couple of day's, it did cross my mind to partake in a small portion.......which would probably lead to another portion and while doing so, cheering me up a bit and maybe helping me to forget for a minute or two, how bad i was feeling!.
The cookie tin was also beginning to look very appealling.
But i didn't go there! and i must admit i surprised myself.

Does anybody else have moment's of weakness?

Were not all second (third or fourth) timer's for no reason!!!

pour clorox on those nuts...they are a trigger food.!
Hi I'm jess and I am addicted to nuts, carbs and all sorts of other things. I've just completed my 3rd triathlon and I am back to get into ketosis and drop all the weight I gained having allowed myself way too much "training foods"...
I am starting off at square one, yet I am going to find a way to complete two more 50 mile bike rides before winter hits the south. One in Oct and one in Nov. That is my goal anyway, we shall see if I can do the weekend training and survive endurance sport at a new angle.

        Hey, Jess, good job!

and Swordfish, good job too! I am awfully sorry you are sick... have some broth on me! I simmer chicken broth with celery and onions when I am sick....

I ate 3 bowls of tortilla-less tortilla soup the other night, telling myself I really didn't need that third bowl, it was really salty as tortilla soup always is. I am sure it didn't put me over my carb count, but I was bloaty all next day and knew I would be ahead of time. I was just really wanting it....

Well, doing well here. Joined the 6 WEC challenge, so getting ready for that. Going to pick pumpkins today with the kids. Want to get some good ones before they're all gone! Started OWL on Friday. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to eat 4 C. of veggies a day. (Seeing that I'm not a veggie lover, but I'm trying!) I don't like eating veggies for breakfast, but I had some tomatoes yesterday...and it wasn't too bad. So, I'm trying to eat a serving at breakfast, one at lunch, and 2 at dinner. Quick question... can I eat 2 servings of the same veggie or do I need to eat 4 different veggies?
Jess... way to go! Someday I hope to be able to do a triathalon! Anyways...hope everyone has a great Sunday!

            Congrats Jess!

Moments of weakness.... Sure! I love sweets. I have gotten better at calming the urge to rip open a packet of Splenda and wolf it...

Had my triathlon yesterday! I feel pretty dang swell today - just a bit of a sore butt - no biggie

Here are a few quick pics...It was all indoors - sponsored by my gym..Dates are off on pics.

            Have a great day all!

Right before I left to go to the gym for the triathlon...

            Swim

            Bike

            Run

            DONE!

              Re: Mornin all 21/09/08

Swordfish-I'm right there with you, but I started getting sick with what I'm sure is strep (since its been going around and I can hardly swallow even water) just as I was hitting induction flu and probably just about in ketosis. I've stepped off the program for a few days as I was only 2 days in and just have too much to do to handle being sick and having induction flu at the same time. I think if I was further in and over induction flu I would have made the choice to hold the course with this woe. It wasn't really weakness, but a concious choice to go off for a few days and just restart when I'm feeling better so I know how much of the lousy feeling is induction flu vs. needing medical attention, kwim?

Jaybee-I so understand the thing with the nuts, nuts and sunflower seeds have been my downfall in the past.

              OutbackJess-You are a real inspiraton!

Momtomanny-that tortillo-less tortillo soup sounds great, is that on Linda's site?

Pokey-Congrats on hitting OWL, have fun with the kiddos today.

Edited to add- Coleen we must have been posting at the same time, didn't mean to miss you. Congrats on completing the triathalon, that's quite an accomplishment. You look marvelous, and I bet you feel just as good (minus the sore butt).

                Re: Mornin all 21/09/08

G'day everybody, geez Colleen you look radiantly beautiful in your triathlon pics! Congrats on your success. Jess, you two! I am super impressed by the athleticism here. Sword, of course we all have our detours, you did a great job making a better choice, especially while not feeling well. Such devotion, cooking a treat you won't even eat!

Today is my 14th day of Induction, I posted the results in the 14-day Induction forum. I'm so delighted with my progress, can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring. Tomorrow school starts, I feel I'm pretty much ready.

Not sure whether to start OWL. Think I want to do one more week of this induction-style eating while I get through the stress of the first week of school.

My average carb count for the second week of induction was 18.9g/day. I want to see what will happen with a third week of induction-style eating, by excluding aspartame and reducing my salt intake.

Everybody have a peaceful and restorative Sunday!

''Training food'' sound's like an absolute belter of an excuse,........... i think i've got a long way to go before i can use that one though

Aye, the soup sound's good. There's nothing better when your not quite firing on all cylinder's.

Yes, you can eat 2 of the same. All the best with your triathlon.
I've promised to climb Ben Nevis with my daughter next year.
Hopefully i'll manage to get up and back down, without the help of the mountain rescue team!!!

Your a star, and such commitment,..... you sure you need to be on a diet?

If your not there already, get well soon.
I used to adopt a 'what the h*ll' sort of attitude when feeling a bit drained and eat anything that wasn't nailed down......more or less!!.
But i know there's better thing's round the corner.......it might take a while to get there, but they'll alway's be there.

I haven't checked on your progress as of now, but well done anyway.
I'm still more or less on the induction since i started. I have added a few more green's though, but still safely within my limit.

Enjoy the rest of your day folk's

                          Good afternoon all

Great job on the triatholons Colleen & Jess!!

I too have trouble with almonds, peanuts or any small salty, snacky foods.

Well after covering 8 or 9 miles of pavement in NYC yesterday I'm still pretty spent - I plan on getting my butt in gear and doing some of my sculpting DVD - even if only the first 20 mins.

Weigh/measure day for me tomorrow.. cross your fingers for me

                          Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Hey Pokey, have you looked at the stickies on the OWL forum? I saw some interesting ideas about how to use pureed veggies as sauces for meats and other veggies, as a way to get more veggies in without bulking up.
