Re: Changing my weight loss program

I was under the impression (now mind you I haven't read the book myself) from talking to my mother-in-law who believes wholeheartedly in the blood type diet, that type O's are suppose to do high protein diets with no grains and minimal dairy.

I myself and an O- and the diet works great for me and my mother-in-law encouraged me by saying it was right for my blood type as well.

Re: Changing my weight loss program

Can I just say....enough with the blood type diets please? Whether it worked for some and not for others is not the issue. This is an Atkins board and we're here because either we know or we hope that eating low-carb will work for us.

I wish her all the luck in the world, but given the fact that she's on medication which slows weight loss and she's surprised that she's only lost 3 pounds in 5 weeks and is now quitting Atkins to go with something else.....doesn't exactly seem like the best idea to me. If she's on medication that slows weight loss it will slow ALL weight loss no matter what her diet. To go from diet to diet to find one that will give her different results...I mean, isn't that what we all have done our entire lives and aren't we all proof that the more diets you do, the more changes you make and the less you stick to one WOE the harder it is on your body and metabolism?

While I'm all for being encouraging, and I do wish her all the luck and success she can find, should be be more encouraging to her to stick with this WOE and not trapse from one diet to another? I mean, lets face facts here, how many diets have you done in your life trying to find one that would work faster? 4? 6? 10? And how many of us have done Atkins, had great results, only to fall off the wagon and try something different, and then something else, and then something else, only to come back to Atkins and kick ourselves for the time wasted and pounds gained, and realize that our weight loss this time around is surprisingly slower than ever???

Perhaps we should not be encouraging her to find yet another new diet, but encourage her to stay true to one we know works, to push through this while on the medication and focus on all the other benefits this WOE gives you?
