  • Cream Cheese

Two weeks ago I gave up aged cheeses. From the beginning, I've been eating about two ounces of aged cheese and two ounces of cream cheese sweetened with Splenda per day.

Like I said, a couple of weeks ago, I gave up aged cheeses but I've continued to have my two ounces of sweetened cream cheese.

Giving up the aged cheeses made no difference. Not in weight loss or anything else....

Has anyone had any experience with giving up cream cheese? I'm going to lay off it because I'm going to lay off the Splenda but I also like the seasoned cream cheese with celery.

    Re: Cream Cheese

The second month I was on Atkins I hit a stall, so I gave up eating all cheese and started losing again. I seldom eat cream cheese so I don't know if it affects weight loss on not.

You should have seen a difference when you gave up the aged cheeses unless you replaced it with something worse. Maybe if you would post your menu, we could be more help. Don't give up!

      Re: Cream Cheese

I've been mixing up so much crazy stuff, I don't know what works and what doesn't. For instance, I gave up coffee and diet coke three weeks ago. NOTHING. I gave up aged cheeses. NOTHING. This week I'm giving up pork rinds.

Of course when you toss in the Bloomin Onion and then the Sugarfree candy. Jeez.

This week I'm on the straight and narrow! And walking 30 minutes each night.

The last three weeks I was eating two sausage patties (1 carb) and three hard boiled eggs (1 1/2 carbs) for breakfast. Lunch was broccoli (4 carbs) and three hard boiled eggs (1 1/2 carbs). Supper was some kind of meat, veg, and salad. Then I'd have some pork rinds with butter and splenda and cream cheese.

Then I screwed up last week and had some Bloomin Onion and weaned myself back off it with Russell Stover SugarFree Candy.

Believe it or not, the sugarfree candy doesn't even come close to kicking me out of ketosis. I'm purple! The onion kicked me out for one day and that was it.

This week, I'm sick of hard boiled eggs. (Actually it's the peeling them that irritates me.) So, I'm having sausage and microwave-scrambled eggs for breakfast (3 1/2 carbs). Salad with turkey, cheese, and zero carb caesar dressing (4 carbs) for lunch. I'll have some meat for supper with salad and veggie. AND NO pork rinds or cream cheese. Sigh. Maybe snack on celery.

Is this enough information? Like I said, according to the stix, I've been in Ketosis probably 75 of the past 80 days.

Hey there. Just wanted to suggest maybe boiling your eggs for the week on one day. That way you're only peeling once or twice a week. Deviled eggs seem to keep really well. Also you can chop some boiled eggs up and keep them in tupperware or a ziploc baggie for adding to salads.

I'm feeling your pain on the cream cheese. I just today decided to kick it because it was the only thing I added to my diet this past week and I've had no loss. Of course, others have told me that it's normal to have some weeks great and others no loss at all. So, I guess we'll see. I really miss it already!

Um... this thread is more than a year old.

There were other problems here than cream cheese.

Ketostix are not reliable. They don't tell one if one is following Atkins correctly.
