  • Success feels soooooooooooo wonderful!

WOOHOO! One week down and I am totally astounded. I stepped on the scale for my first weekly weigh in and in ONE week i am down 6 pounds..I can not believe it ..I am so thrilled. I knew this worked...but it has been so long since i lived the atkins lifestyle that I forgot how WONDERFUL weight loss success felt! I'm in this for life this time..Im just so excited to see how things progress. My pants definitely are fitting better too!

I have tried to change my siggy several times but I cant change it grrrr.... But my start weight was 214.5 and I weigh 208 today!...so it was 6.5 pounds actually...

It's a great diet and I know you are thrilled. Things might slow down a touch during the second week, and maybe even the third week....Carbs stored as glucose in our muscles cause us to store 3 times the water weight as that gm of carb. So, some of this is water, but it's holding space and now it's going! Gotta love that....Soon your body will just burn and melt the fat off...Remember to measure yourself, since you are burning fat and changing space, as well as working out and building lean muscle! Some times the scales don't reflect progress as well as that measuring tape!

        Re: Success feels soooooooooooo wonderful!

I am new to this forum . I completed 14 days of Atkins as of today. I did not do a "clean induction" according to the book. I have only lost 3.5 pds. When I say not a clean induction I mean... I had sugar free jello, sugar free life savers and a few sugar free chocolate candies. I am a 51 yr old female with starting weight of 208 and now at 204.5. Yes I am thankful for the 3.5 pds but frustrated at only 3.5 as everything else has been"legal". Just had to reply to get started on this forum.

Hi blakesgrandma, you may be a bit more resistant to WL, but 3.5 pounds is definitely nothing to sneeze at! Great job and keep up the good work because 3 lb here and 3 lb there really DO add up over time!

Thanks to all for the encouragement. This type of start is truly what I needed to really remain determined and stick like glue to my plan. I'm real proud of myself because I have a gal living with me that my hubby and I rent a room to and she love to cook and make junk food....She has been making stuff I usually just can not resist..like fudge and cinnamon rolls etc....and I am not the least bit tempted or interested because the sugar cravings and binging behavior I have always struggled with is under control .... YAY!

Sugarfreeone - I'm thrilled for you; sticking to your convictions and celebrating the fact that the sugar-demon is behind bars. I, too, am experiencing huge relief from the constant sweet cravings that plague me when I'm not on-plan. I'm not sure that I could handle a home that smelled like cinnamon buns (I think you must be super-human), but I get what you are saying. Congrats on your successes!!!

              Well done

It is a great feeling to see a drop on your first week. Any drop is better than a gain.
I lost 4lb then 2lb then 1lb, so weight loss has slowed down but time of the month at the moment so hoping that weigh in next monday I will have more than a 1lb drop.
