I cant even begin to list the numerous times that I have tried to start this diet. Last year I stuck with it for a while and dropped about 20 pounds before finally going back to my old ways. There have been many times when I just stick with it for a day and then the same night im binging on carbs.... its very hard for me to stick with this. although i know that i need to... that i have to. i weighed at the dr. the other day and i was 255.. and being 24 years old with a 4 year old, im miserable.. my back hurts constantly and my legs just as bad.... i need to do something and i hope this time it will work....

Hey girl welcome, just take it one day at a time, and just get yourself through induction and move to the second phase and allow yourself to build up consistency....momentum and new habits. It can be done, but you do have to do it! Nothing magic falls out of the sky around here, so sorry! I wish it did, but with Atkins you have to work it.74 8/1/06

Re: Isn't there a 50th time around club.
I can relate very strongly to the many attempts made to make it through even the first day of sugar cravings and feelings of self-deprivation. Then, there are the days where all the mojo you could ever ask for has you turning your nose up at those nigglings for desserts, rolls, sandwiches, whatever. I wish I could package whatever it is that gets us rolling through those initial cravings, because I would certainly be at goal by now, and not still at the "let's try this ONE more time" point. Regardless, we all know that, like Jess points out, there comes a certain strength along with the momentum of staying on plan and putting our long-term goals ahead of those short-term cravings.
Is it willpower? Is it determination, is there something chemical going on there that keeps us on track? I'm not sure. All I can tell you, from my experience THIS time around, is that planning for the following day and keeping my home stocked with everything I need to get through without a lot of doubt or questions has certainly been helpful. I am also keeping my soda intake very low, and that seems to keep most of my cravings at bay. Green/jasmine tea is also really helpful, since it keeps me going and gives a flavourful alternative to all that water I'm chugging down. The point is, the less sugar-tasting things I consume in a day keeps those sugar cravings away. Which is MY biggest hurdle. Keep up with your positive attitude, keep your goals first and foremost in your mind, and you will succeed. Posting your doubts, concerns and fears is oh-so-much-better than running to the sweets cupboard, and venting them there. Best of luck to you. We are all in your corner! BigLove, S.

Re: Isn't there a 50th time around club.
If there was a 50th time around club I would be in it!! I am restarting today for what seems like the 100th time. I swore back in May I would lose weight for my anniversary in August, but I am pretty sure I've gained weight since then
. So, with that said, here I go again! Good Luck to us!!

Hi and welcome back! Sounds like you've got plenty of motivation to restart the program and stick with it. You're sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? I can relate! Well, you've come to the right place.
I really recommend checking in here frequently ... read everything. It's a great support system and motivator. And join in the challenges ... they keep you honest and on point! Plus, it's fun
And don't get discouraged! Not every day is going to be a tea party ... you can do this!
