  • Tuesday Oct 14 Roll Call

    Hello Fellow STACrs!

I have been not very accessible to the forum here as I adjust to school schedule. But I am still with the program and feeling good about my choices. during a 3-week period we have my DH's birthday, my birthday, and our anniversary. So I did veer off plan with some vodka drinks and wine. But as far as my eating I stayed right with it.

School is a source of stress but I find that as long as I keep a plastic box full of legal foods with me in my pack, I don't get hungry. It's the getting hungry that puts me in the path of temptation!

So I hope everyone is doing well, I will check back in here maybe this evening and read more posts and interact some more. I so value this forum and all you fellow Success Story STACrs!

I'm here, just getting a chance to catch up with everybody. Glad you are doing well Redfoxglove despite veering a little. I've found as a STACer the most important thing for me is to keep coming back even when I do veer. That is the mistake I've made in the past, letting a veer send me back to my old ways of eating. As long as I keep coming back to this woe I can minimize the damage.

I just got back from my 1500 mile road trip, and while I didn't manage to stay in induction, I did pretty good knowing that I made a few bad food choices along the way. Like one morning we went out to breakfast, and I could tell from the first bite that my bacon was Maple cured, it had a distinctly sweet taste, but I was hungry so I ate it.

On another occasion I ordered a steak and salad with blue cheese, it was definately not like any blue cheese I purchase, it was very sweet and almost nauseating, I didn't eat but a few bites of that, yet I was still hungry after eating my 7 oz prime rib, so I grabbed a fresh baked hot roll (naughty I know, lol). And finally on our last night on the road we stopped for dinner and I had a margarita, I just needed something to relax my body and mind, I was aching from riding so long, and anxious to complete our journey home, and just wanted to relax my mind and body for the next few hours of our drive. (Hubby was driving of course).

In addition I hardly drank any water at all during the course of the trip, I did not want to have to stop every 2 hours to use the restroom with so far to travel.

But it was right back to induction this morning, and I'm avoiding the scale at least until Friday hoping I'll at least be back where I was when we started our trip last Thursday.

Hey Barb, sounds like you did really good on your trip. And I totally agree, getting back on track quickly is the trick to long term success. I've been successful in doing so without beating myself up, and it feels so much better, so much better! I've been having a challenge with drinking the right amount of water during the school day. I really believe the water is just as important as the right kind of eating.

You made good choices on your trip, I'm sure you'll get back in the groove quickly. Later....
