So I was wondering what the general concenses was about sugar free gum. Now I know that the best way to do atkins is to completely starve you sweet tooth so you get rid of those cravings but the last couple times I have tried to get back on the wagon I have had the hardest time getting over those sweet cravings. Eating something high protein/high fat and drinking water works for that moment but the craving comes back. Then I fall off the wagon and feel completely mad at myself for not hanging in there. So I was thinking that when I had those sweet cravings if I could have apiece of SF gum that would help get me through those tough times... to me that seems to be a better alternative that eating a cookie...or 3...or 6...or more. So I was wondering what everyone else thought about that. I am hoping that once I get into ketosis and the cavings go away I won't need it...I jsut want to get over the super hard part...the first week or two.

Re: Thoughts on Sugar free gum
I think as long as it doesn't spark even worse cravings then it should be fine. I count each piece of gum as 1 carb, even if it's not.

Re: Thoughts on Sugar free gum
I love gum, love it, love it...but I don't do it right now b/c it really is better FOR ME to keep the sweet taste out of my mouth.
Just look at the sweetener used, avoid aspartame, sorbitol tastes good to me but not much causes diarrhea.... Aspartame is a common staller-of-weight-loss .... good luck and happy chewing, it's great for getting rid of the ketosis breath thing...redfoxglove
