    Okay, maybe it wasn't just the coffee. I've had a weird few weeks, I decided not to weigh until a doctors appt I have coming up in November... at the same time I switched from Splenda to Stevia packets for my coffee. I was drinking decaf with cream & a bit of the packet. Oh my goodness the CRAVINGS! I was craving carbs like crazy. It wasn't pretty. I was craving coffee more too. For well over a week I was crazy for coffee, not sleeping well, when I did sleep I was dreaming of carbs! I've never done that. I switched back to Splenda but at that point I was drinking coffee ALOT, regular coffee and it way more than my usual few sips of a cup in the morning. So, the cream intake was obviously way up too. I caught it though, when I jumped on the scale this past monday (after noticing my jeans were snug) and saw that I had gained. I'm on day 4 of no coffee, no cream, no sweeteners. I've given up the sweetener all together for now, cream I'm thinking I'll re-introduce next week (I love it in my pumpkin!)

    Funny thing is, I never thought that coffee had much of an effect on me but I really think that it does. Splenda wasn't agreeing with me so much (stomach issues) and I know I OD'd on the cream. I'm glad that I caught it though! I also need to weigh weekly so that I can keep tabs on any issues that may come up.

    Just thought I'd share.

    Oh , I know what you mean about the coffee. It gets to be worse than needing a candy bar! I can't do the splenda it gives me evil headaches and makes my face feel puffy. I just have to give up the coffee for long periods of time because every time the plan is working well the coffee seems to be a diving board back into carbs and sweets.

      I was drinking decaf coffee with a Splenda pill, and i'd float some cream on top, and very nice it was too!.
      I've managed now to get on to having it just black, with no sweetner's, it was a bit rough to begin with, but i'm actually beginning to like it now.

          Coffee is said to trigger cravings in some and other problems arise also. So you are one that that happens to. SMART MOVE to pick up on this and alter your lifestyle!

            Hi! Question-

            I am trying to figure out what may be stalling me...

            I've increased my veggies to the correct amount, only eat until satisfied, and watch my cheese...

            I am getting frustrated because I lost 4 lbs during induction, but have lost nothing since. I am hoping that cutting out coffee, diet sodas, and counting my splendas will work better. So- can I have decaf, or will this also stall me...??

              Heather, I doubt you are in a stall. You have done these changes not so long ago (I remember answering to another post of yours) and you have only 20 lbs to lose. Weight comes off slow. I have 17 lbs left (out of about 23) and I've been hovering around 157 lbs for the past... 4-5 weeks, I think. It will happen if you follow the plan, but it's not a miracle diet.

              To answer your question... yes, even decaff can stall some people. Tea can stall as well (it does for me) even if it's decaff. My suggestion for you would be to drink only water for 2 weeks and see if this makes a difference.

              Watch out processed meats and foods high in sodium, they might make you gain water weight. Everyone reacts differently to them.

              Are you exercising? Exercise is an essential part of Atkins.

              I'll also post this in the thread you started some days ago and maybe we can move the discussion there. I don't want to hijack this thread.

                Oh I have had carb dreams a LOT! Almost every time I go into ketosis I have a carb dream... it's weird, I consider it a crazy phenomenon of ketosis...

                I wake up feeling like I got the satisfaction of eating them without the guilt... like a freebie... and I snicker to myself...

                It's usually cookies or brownies I've noticed... so I think that's my subconscience telling me those are my worst trigger foods and to stay away...

                I'm curious what you dreamed of... ???
