  • Feeling horrible!!

    Guys,

It seems that my weighing scale is stuck. I have been exercising like a mad woman and i am in induction but my scale wont budge a pound less than 161 lbs. I have been drinking 3 liters of water everyday and running to the bathroom every half hour. My body aches from working out. It kills my legs to climb stairs. To top it all, i bumped into a grad school friend after one and half years and he mentioned that how much weight i have put on and my face looks all round!!

    I feel so frustated!!!

I signed up for a challenge to weigh between 150-155 lbs by end of Nov. Its not happening for me guys i feel very sad and lost, i didnt even go to exercise today. Hope i dont fall off the wagon

    Re: Feeling horrible!!

    Hi Tania,

Scale war, huh? I also hate that darn thing! With passion! But I think you're doing great even if the scale doesn't love you right now.

Good job for exercising! Many people don't see how important that is and what a big difference it can make in the long run. I believe your muscles are just retaining water (especially if they ache) and it's this water that you see on the scale and not fat. You ARE shrinking, the scale it's just fussy.

Although exercise is important, don't forget that rest days are too. They help your body recover and give little breaks to your muscles so that they eliminate the extra water. If you are doing weights for example, don't work the same groups in two consecutive days. Do chest/arms/back one day, thighs/quads/calves the other... just as an example.

Your friend doesn't love you too much, does he? I think one shouldn't (especially as a guy) make comments about someone else's weight gain unless you are really close to that person. The one who gained weight most probably didn't do it on purpose (d'oh!) and he/she is not thrilled by it. Just ignore his comment. Think how awesome you'll look when you reach goal! When you'll meet him he'll be like .

About the challenge, I think we're in the same boat. The New Year thing, right? Saw you posting there today. Don't worry about not making goal there. Goals are very nice when you reach them, but you can't schedule your weight loss to meet a goal. Don't let this dishearten you, you are doing a great job with eating and exercising!

How far in induction are you?

if you're excersising like mad then it's normal. you are replacing lbs of fat with lbs of muscle. its a good thing. measure inches instead of fat.
i'm 25 years old, mom of two, ready to do this once and for all!
note: i am breast-feeding, though my baby is nearly weaned, eating most solid food now. i am doing this diet with the knowledge, approval, and at the suggestion of my doctor and having done my homework. i will not discuss the matter in any of my posts. please don't bring it up.

Hang in there.... there will be days the scale is a monster that needs to be locked up and not brought out or looked at for a week. Throw him in the closet or under the bed and throw your friend who made the comment with him.
