  • share your non scale progress markers!

Not the size ones, the off beat ones.

I am having one of those 'scale not moving much although clothes still getting looser' weeks, so I am reminding myself of the other things that have changed.

I no longer create a 'dam' in my bathtub. No lie, my hips were as wide as my tub when I started, and I really, really hated that. Much narrower than the tub now!

I previously couldn't cross my legs, now I can sit, pull one leg on top of the other and touch my heel to my tummy.

I have no ugly granny panties in my drawer, and I can step into my undies quite nimbly. Don't have to sit to pull them on.

So what keeps you going in 'slow scale' weeks?

Even thought the scale hasn't really moved too much since my restart like a week ago, I started again at 182 and I keep hovering 180-181, a co-worker told me my tummy looks smaller and asked if I was losing weight again...

    That was nice...

      mtm1, I like your "markers"!

I have to say I have a few of the same:

I can sit in the tub of water emerse my entire self in it and still have room around me.
I can sit on the kitchen chair with nothing hanging over, spilling over uncomfortably.
I can buckle my seat belt tighter around me (nothing hanging over).
I can walk up the stairs without the flab flapping in the wind, just burning of muscles getting a good work out!
There's no swish swish of my thighs when I walk.
I wear a size 7 underware with pride, instead of 9s feeling like I could hide.
I need to buy new bras because there's just too much space to fill.
I can button my size L shirts with room.

And...I found myself able to squat down on my feet like those nimble students I teach to get down to their level to show them how to do something or tie their shoes when they give me that cute little "Please???" look. The getting back up part is still kind of hard though...lol.

Yep, Atkins is great coupled with an awesome exercise!!!

Being able to button my jeans without feeling like I was poured into them

Lets see here... Im having one of those weeks.. soo..

*Having a ton of energy on this way of life- instead of bumming around feeling blah.
*Feeling my clothes moving as I walk like I have room to spare.
*In fact, today, someone just told me I look like I lost alot of weight and that I look great. Its amazing what inches can do.
*Feeling over all more healthy is so rewarding, even when the scale isnt on my side the current week. I still feel/know that Im doing well for my body. No matter how long it takes, I will get there. WE WILL ALL get there

            well...

my legs are not rubbing together... and seriously that is like for the first time ever in my adult life!

I pulled out my winter coat as we have 4 inches of snow on the ground tonight and I could actually zip it up, and twist it around my body. Its a mans XXXl... not the sleeves are so long I had to roll them up...

My sister says I look deflated

I actually feel a bit light on my feet... gazelle like almost... I am still in the 200's but seriously I feel like a featherweight

I stacked about 10 chords of firewood in one afternoon in one go... and had no residual pain.

I fit in my office chair easier with room on either side of me

My sister says I look smaller in the drivers seat of my car

I can stretch my body in ways I don't think I have ever been able to...

            There are sooo many...

good post! its nice to read others experiences! and its SUPER nice to be able to relate!

being able to tie shoes/skates and BREATHE at the same time.

being able to take off my pants without undoing them.

noticing serious wiggle room in pants that I couldn't even do up properly before because they were so tight.

Oh this has been the best read! You guys are doing soooo great....The reverse is also true, pants getting tighter, getting more winded on stairs, loosing control and organization, and generally fighting up hill alllll the way, so girls, keep yourselves together and keep moving all down hill at this point!

I've had several foot surgeries, so for me being able to stand on a ladder to wash windows and clean cabinets for as long as it takes to get done and to be able to wear tongs again without my arches cramping are a joy to me. And I love the feeling of being able to pull the legs of my 'before' slacks out far enough to do a curtsy; it's so cool! I love this woe!!!!

Oh I love this thread ....what a great idea Mom!

I was out to a girls lunch at my fav restarant in town when I had to use the little girls room.

Little is the operative word. They have this tiny stall that you can barely move in so I try not to have to use it but nature called. The last time I had used it was pre-atkins and the stall was so small that I couldnt bend over to pick up my pants!

Low and behold....It wasnt the stall it was me. No longer as cramped as it had been. LOL I was shocked! I wanted to tell someone but WHO?

So glad I had the chance to sharewith my Atkins buddies

Oh I love the responses! FatStar, I am so with you... no matter how long it takes WE WILL do this. Sometimes when you are still a Work in Progress weight wise, it can get discouraging, I want to be smaller than I see in the mirror. But it is happening, it will happen, and there is so much to appreciate in the meantime.

A friend of my granddaughter had moved away at the beginning of the summer, so I hadn't seen them in months. I saw her Mom Friday at work, and at first she didn't recognize me for a moment. She made arrangements to bring her little girl over to play yesterday, and while they were visiting she said "Are you losing weight? Friday at first I wasn't sure that was you!" That felt great. The people who see me all the time, some have noticed and commented, but not that many. This was the first time someone hadn't seen me in months and could tell the 'big difference.'

I don't wake up in the mornings with a backache if I sleep more than 6 hours. That is pretty cool.

What motivates me when the scale doesn't move....

Being able to buy smaller pants when I go shopping.
Not having my belly flap hang over those nice new pants
being able to go to the gym and not dying in the first 10 minutes.
having energy to play with my kids.
