  • Hi again, folks...

    Hey everyone! I'm back!

I've had a pretty terrible year, healthwise, and I've totally gotten off track. I've probably only gained maybe 10 pounds, but ugh. I had pneumonia twice, and then i managed to blow my knee out and now I'm couchbound. Once I can walk again, I have to have surgery. Isn't THAT fun?

So, needless to say, i can't exercise and right now I can't even cook. So i've been sitting around eating the things that are easy to eat (read: junk). That has to change. I just had a nice little meal of salami and cheese, and am going to order only healthy low carb groceries for delivery. But, I think I need a little support, because quite honestly i'm so bored sitting in this house day after day that it's all I can do to not eat 24/7 just out of sheer boredom. I'm totally getting depressed. UGH.

(as to why i can't leave the house really - my apartment is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. Stairs on crutches....yeah not so good really. )

So, wanted to stop by my favorite forum on this board and say hi, and try to propel myself into healthy eating again!

Hi there hun. It is so neat to see that you made it to your goal before. I'm so sorry about your run in with bad health. I had knee surgery four weeks ago today...HORRID. I had a few things done all at the same time, but oh my goodness not fun at all. What are you going to have done?

If you are having anything done like I did I would love to give you the excersices that my physical therapist gave me to do. You can start them before your surgery to 1- do some form of excercise and 2- start strengthening your legs now.

    Best of uck to you.

      Hi Knicknack,

Ouch, sounds like you have really had a year! I hope you heal quickly and can get the surgery overwith so you can get out of the apt.

I'm back for about the 150th time! (at least it seems like that many!) but this time it's been 4 days now and going good. I'm sure you will do great with the healthy eating too.

        Knicky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, so gooooood to hear from you. So sorry about your knee....bummer the couch can be a rough place. Food, I've been off into other worlds of sports nutrition and truth-be-told, I'm sure they are great eating plans for endurance sport, but I could not keep myself together on them, and totally lost control....So Im back, and accepting my realities. I've gained weight and I've lost control...Gee right up there with blowing out the knee. (well sorta)
So, happy holidays. I love STAC too, it's just a great place to wipe off the crap and go forward!

          Hi Liss -

I'd love to see the exercises they gave you! I've got a few of them from my PT but they are pretty basic - raise your leg up in the air, hold, put it back down, etc... I'm working on getting my full range of motion back. Lovely!

Jess, it's good to see you too! I am ashamed to admit that i haven't yet attacked atkins this time around. Ugh. I don't know what is wrong with me. It's just so hard to eat properly when you can't cook. Hmph! I'm going to order some delivery groceries right now to get me started. If there's nothing in the house then i won't have much choice. Part of the problem is that my pain medicine makes me hungry - or it feels like I'm hungry anyway. there's this great gnawing pain at my belly. booo!
