  • Are they trying to kill me?!?

I swear, the Carbohydrate demons are haunting me! So anyway, I went to a diner the last night and decided Pork chops and some veggies would be nice, right? WRONG...they waitress looks at me and says, " Sorry honey we only have corn tonight." WHAT? No other vegetable in the entire restaurant, not even salad?! So I settle on an omlette, with no hashbrowns and definitely NO toast. Everything was great, until she brought out toast anyway. It was the good kind too..freshly toasted Sourdough with butter practically dripping off of it. The entire meal, that toast was taunting me. What worse, we had the slowest waitress ever and she took forever to clear the table and give the bill. So we sat there, my husband trying to talk and me just staring at this evil toast. I kept saying, one bite wont hurt, just a taste...It was torture and almost caved...almost. This is sad, but it literally took me purposefully dropping it on the floor, to stop me. Its cruel to tempt an addict like me with that.

But good news is, I had a good week and am 8lbs down after week one. Whew!

I would have told the waitress to take the toast back.
      Good you didn't eat it.

Way to go!! And whatever you have to do to keep yourself on plan is worth it, even if you had to drop it!! In the future, you could just ask her to take it away as soon as she brings it. It might seem fussy (and I hate being fussy in restaurants) but at least then it wouldn't have haunted you! I always figure, if I said I didn't want it and it came anyway I am totally entitled to ask for it to go away! Remember that you are the most important person in this situation and it is more important for you to stay on plan than for her to not make an extra trip back to the kitchen.

I know what you mean. Thats hard ..

I try to think of it this way. If i were diabetic and they came and gave me a pc of pie. I wouldn't eat it cause .. well for obvious reasons.. Or if i were allergic to peanuts and they put peanut butter on my taost i wouldn't eat it ... a person that was gluten intollerant wouldn't eat pasta right..

Sooo I CANT eat bad carbs .. I just can't, they cause all sorts of medical and physical problems with me, much like someone with and allergy or medical condition.

I know it sounds silly .. but it's kind of a mind over matter thing..

I don't think it sounds silly! I think it sounds sensible! I think you are absolutely right. And when you think about carbs as evil little beasties that not only make you fat but also because of the fat can make you seriously (even dangerously) unhealthy it makes even more sense! I like your thinking- I should think of carbs as if I am allergic to them and not feel badly about refusing them. And, (it won't happen I know) I bet if our friends/co-workers saw them like that they would stop offering them to us, too!
