    Good morning STACers.

This morning, I got up and jogged with a friend at 6am. Wow that has put my day in a great place already! I am so happy to have done this!

The holidays are so tricky. We have to work so hard to avoid and plan to stay ahead of the tricky foods and cravings. This holiday season we see how centered on "food as enjoyment" our society has traditionally made it.

Here we are trying to break the cycles we have with food, and there is a party waiting to happen everywhere to celebrate with foods!

Drink alot of water at these celebrations.
Plan your food before you leave your own house
Eat a delicious snack in the car on the way.
Keep a drink of water with lime or even diet soda in hand (especially if it will help feel like you are either a part of have something to enjoy)
Make a low carb dessert and take it.
    Mingle away from the food.
Tell people when they push, "I'm just not hungry, maybe later"
"You know sweets haven't been agreeing with me lately"
"Thanks, but I'm saving my treats for later"
If they get mad, or hurt THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS THEIR PROBLEM...If you give in and eat, YOU now allowed it to become your problem...
Seek out the help of your spouse, if they are supportive. Keep it to yourself if they are NOT....

The biggest deal is you need to look to yourself for strength! You need to consult yourself before you leave and give yourself a plan. NOBODY is going to take care of your diet but you! NOBODY gets to reap your rewards either. When their clothes are getting tighter, yours will be looser. When they can't move off the couch, you can be out taking a walk...When they feel bad about themselves inside, YOU WILL BE FEELING THE JOY of this diet!!!!! It is hard, and it's hard to walk out but YOU GET TO PICK!
    YOU PICK

    Re: Roll Call 12-19

That's great advice, Jess. Thanks for posting it.

I have my 2 Christmas dinners already planned out and it's not that hard for me to eat small servings because as I've lost weight, my appetite has diminished to the point that I 'can't' eat very much at a time. And there will be lots of turkey, ham and veggies to choose from, so I'm not worried.

I hope everyone else has an easy time of it too. Remember you are the one in control of what goes into your mouth, so don't let anyone else take that away from you.

I'm off to the elliptical machine.

      Re: Roll Call 12-19

Thanks for the great message this morning Jess! You know, I was thinking, how many people are commenting about what you are/aren't eating and drinking when you are on you way to becoming unhealthy. I don't recall anyone (family or friend) saying "you really shouldn't be eating that, it's not healthy for you" at a social function or family gathering. Why do they suddenly become concerned about what I am putting in my mouth when I am doing what works to help me lose weight and become a more healthy person. I don't criticize others, why do they feel they have a right to say what I do and do not eat and drink. I am committed to this WOE, I know that it works for ME! I am now down almost 10 pounds, and feeling so much better. With the support that I find here on this board, along with my focus and determination, I will be successful again.

Hope everyone has a great day today.

        Re: Roll Call 12-19

Exactly, nobody makes comments THEN.....Really I think a lot of people "wish" they could do things they see others do, and that could inspire some reactions.....
I am still and always will be the one who acts on my behalf. Staying strong is a work of art, a work in progress, a hard working decision making, planning out achievement, that does not come with out a lot of sweat!
Stay strong, be SECURE in the choices you make for your body!

          OH SO TRUE!!!

I am in a good mood! It's my Dad's bday and some of you may know he was critically ill in March and it wasn't looking likely he would like to the end of the week and now he is turning 63 and much healthier generally.

Also, to start the day off nicely, I received a call from Triumph to say I had won a lingerie set (I entered a competition there yesterday) so have just chosen a gorgeous red set!

Have a good day all xx

            Re: Roll Call 12-19

Hi everyone! Still going strong today!

Thanks for your wonderful and inspirational opening to today's roll call Jess! I, for one, definitely agree with the points you've made. I wish the American culture would focus more on other forms of comfort, like staying fit, rather than turn to food. Let me tell ya, living in Germany isn't easy because the culture here is all about staying fit and I feel like a misfit. Granted, there are more and more obese people here every year, but the majority is still focused on staying healthy and within a reasonable weight range.

Today was an OK day for me. I'm feeling a bit of "induction flu" today. I'm a bit achy all over and felt a bit nauseated here and there. I made sure to drink some water to make the feeling go away. I hope tomorrow is better because I'm not too fond of being nauseated, but then again, who is!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoy your weekend!
