  • Not too sure....

I last did Atkins, with great success, back in 2001 and at the time only needed to loose about 25 pounds. Fast forward to 2008, I now need to loose 60 pounds thanks to my pregnancy in 2002 and Im kinda freakin out about it. Ive been in induction for a week and have not lost a single ounce. I think the whole carbs minus fiber thing may be throwing me off becase when i started atkins in 1999 there was no such thing. You just ate meat and cheese and poof you were thin.

So should I keep it simple during induction and not try to eat anything that must be subtracted? I cant remember if I ever had this much problem before. I will say that my stomache has gone down a little and I have mucho energy, pee alot but thats it. Ahhhhhhhh! somebody set me strait here. And whats up with diet sodas? do they or do they not affect ketosis?

I too had great success in '01 and then gained back PLUS. We have about the same amount of weight to lose. Anyway, I do know that everyone is different. Artificial sweeteners stall some people I know while others can use them pretty freely. Can you tell me what version of Atkins you did? Dr. A never wrote a book about a plan which didn't include some veggies, even in induction.

ok let me clarify something. Certian thing get lost in translation when your typing and not speaking. I was exagerrating about only eating meat and cheese. I ate salad too. I was just trying to make a point about how the Diet has changed a little.

You are right, the original version (DADR) did allow a small salad during its one week induction period which many detractors completely ignored when they lambasted Dr Atkins for promoting a steak, bacon and cheese 'diet'

I sometimes wonder if that was the main reason he decided he should change his rules in DANDR to make us eat more vegetables on induction

Maybe you need to post your menus in our 'Review my Menu' forum, canway, in case anyone can spot any known 'stallers'?

For example, here we tend to agree that it is important to get 'most' of our net carbs from our veggies, so changing them from something with poor nutrient content like lettuce (aka chewy water) if that has been your main veg choice might kickstart your body into losing.

Or you might inadvertantly be eating something off-plan.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

            Re: Not too sure....

Welcome back to Atkins and your new journey on ADBB!

Speaking of the diet sodas...Dr.A's 2002 version he wrote states you should only have 2-3 tsp of Splenda or artificial sweetner max in a day. Most diet sodas have more than that. So it's a case of over "eating" (drinking) your allotment for the day. Hope that helps.

            Best wishes!
