  • Christmas confessional

I was surrounded by diet detractors for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Refusal is considered a slap in the face of the cook. I dodged the sweet potato with brown sugar sauce and marshmellow top. I didn't eat any dinner rolls. I managed to force down "ham jerky" and crunchy broccoli.

But, I couldnt resist the cookies and chocolates.

I could have done alot worse than I did. I could have been a mean person for telling someone they were intentially detracting my attempts of losing weight.

For those like me who fell off the waggon over the holidays, I wish everyone well this new year and for the strength to stand up against these diet saboteurs (no matter the situation).

It is not mean to tell someone that you are are an eating program that is vital to your health and well being. Take the opportunity to educate them on Atkins. You might get a pleasant surprise. Most people I tell, don't offer me things I can't eat or they make sure that the restaurants that we dine at have something that will for me.

Best of the new year to you!

I also had a lot of people telling me I should just have "a little" of any particular bad food but they were also telling me that I looked great and had lost a lot of weight. So it was easy for me to think and to say that the way I've been doing it includes resisting those foods and that people noticing and saying I looked great was way more satisfying than a couple of bites of bad food! Good luck this year! You can do it!!

            Re: Christmas confessional

The Holiday Season is definitely an evil one in regards to foods. Unfortunately, these holidays are usually centered around food and families gather to enjoy those foods together. It's a hard time to go through when you know you can't have most of the comfort foods being offered and it's hard to turn them down.

Look on the bright side... you are back on track and did not decide to just give up. It takes a lot of will power to stay on track, but it takes even more strength to get back on track and admit your mistakes.

            Stay positive and be strong!

              Welcome back!

Outrageous how we have to put up with people around us that just can't stand change...or someone else trying to make a change. I know you'll show them up by doing what you set out to do...make life long changes to a better and healthier you!
