I used this message board as a resource when I first did Atkins, 4ish years ago. I went from 203 (then my highest) to 175 before a trip to Walt Disney World (my entire life dream) gave me an excuse to not stay on the wagon, or get back on!
Today I weighed in at 217, and started induction knowing that this is going to work - because I'm going to make it work!
My husband, who did the WOE change with me before, is now doing a low calorie/low sugar WOE so we'll be sharing veggies and chicken for dinner most nights. We go to gym 3 nights a week and work out on our home treadmill and exercise bike the other nights.
My goal is 145-155 pounds. When I get 10 pounds from my goal my husband is going to reward me with another Walt Disney World trip!! I've never been so motivated for anything in my life (sad but true...sorry).
Why do I want to be healthy? I am starting to train (very slowly) for a half marathon! I want to finish one before I'm 35 (30 now). I'd also like to go snorkeling and lay on a beach in Hawaii and Cancun without feeling like a whale.
More importantly, I'd like to lower my risk of heart problems, high blood pressure, and any sodium issues that may arise since I pour it on everything (cutting back is alongside my new WOE!).
I'm a little nervous since I start my new job on Monday and I'm not sure what the lunch/snack situation will be like. But any way you slice it, I'm going to make sure that it works!
Before, I lurked a great deal on several forums and information sites across the web but this time I'd like to be a little more active and involved since I know that you guys will all help encourage me when I feel down.
I won't fail. This is not an option. I will not go through life with this extra weight deciding what I do and don't do! I know I can change my life and I just wanted to thank you guys for giving me such an awesome outlet where I can garner support!!
Good luck in the new year to us all! I'm really excited at being more involved with you guys, learning what I can, and encouraging others to stick with it!! We are OH! So worth it!!!
