    hey everyone....

so this morning im a little discouraged....i weighed myself yesterday and had lost 5.2 pounds...and was super excited... this morning though, i jumped back on the scale (which is unlike me because i only weigh once a week) and it showed i had went back up 4 pounds.... is that normal?/? i know i shouldnt weigh every day, that does get you discouraged....i also heard that you should go by inches and your clothing, well ive seen no results yet.... i know the first time i did atkins after the first week, my clothes were already looser and i had lost 6 inches... this time i seem to be getting bigger....its like all the fat that was on my back is moving to my tummy if that makes sense.... im drinking all my water and exercising every day...... still im discouraged this morning........ i know it didnt come on over night and i know it takes work to get it off..... another thing, my parter in crime whom im doing this with had already lost 10 lbs....ugh....................

    Re: frustrated

Hi Miranda, it is totally normal! Our weight fluctuates from day to day so don't let yourself get upset about it! Here is an excellent post about this very problem! It helps me when I'm getting discouraged! Good luck!

Hi Miranda! Whatever you do, don't get discouraged at what the scale shows you. Fluctuations are totally normal. Although I know this, I do get upset seeing my weight jump from a lower to a higher number. However, it's exactly that.... just a number. There could be several reasons why that number fluctuates. Being a female, our main enemy is water retention. Make sure to break out the measuring tape and use that after weighing yourself to relieve yourself of any discouragement you experience. I know it keeps me motivated no matter what my scale reads!

Stay positive and keep up the great work!

I get the same way! It's normal to be discouraged when you see a higher number on the scale. I try to keep mine in a cabinet until it's time to weigh.

I'll admit I didn't read all of that post, but as soon as I read, I went down 5.2 lbs. and up 4 I felt I had to reply!!!

You still lost 1.2 lbs. in ONE DAY!

That's AMAZING! Let yourself feel a little relief on that, and only weigh-in once a week from now on!

Try not to compare your loss to your partners because it will drive you crazy. Men especially lose weight so much faster than we do so I've always found it better to go it alone to avoid the frustration of the 'race' mentality. We all lose at a different pace so just stick to you guns and you'll be fine.
