  • ugh...i messed up

So last saturday was my boyfriend's mothers birthday.....and I had every intention of sticking with my diet....but after over sleeping, and a rush to get everyone ready and out the door so we could make the hour and a half drive to her house, i skipped out on breakfast......by the time i got there i was starved......She had cooked dinner, i politely said i wasnt hungry, because there was absolutely nothing i could eat... She asked me if i wanted something to drink, i said yes, she brings in a soda, which i assumed was diet....nope it was a regular pepsi....after being there longer than i expected i was so hungry i caved.....ended up eating, even birthday cake..... sunday wasnt much better either. i binged on carbs all day because i was so mad over the day before.......

i did get back on track yesterday, now im just worried that the weekend coming up is going to be a replay, seeing as how nex saturday is the bf's birthday and he has already said hes takin the day off.....ugh.......i messed up big time.......how bad will this set me back??? and i've still not lost over 5 pounds in 3 weeks........is that normal?

We all have setbacks, don't beat yourself up over it. Just as long as you get right back on track. I find that if I plan meals in advance and have a few handy snacks ready to go, it helps me avoid last minute hunger/binge eating.

      Hang in there babe.

Being prepared is paramount in this wol. Keep life savers close at hand when possible. Have string cheese ready to go, hard boiled eggs etc. Sliced raw vegis can make or break you in a crunch. Even some jerky is better than nothing.

Don't be afraid to ask if you can snoop through the fridge when you are at a family meal like you were. You have to advocate for your self. Exlpain to your hostess that you are following a low carb diet and it is important to eat within your allowed food list. Most people will understand.

You can bring your own food as well. I have made in the past many low carb dishes and shared them with friends. Bring what you want- need to. Don't hesitate to call your hostess and ask her if there is anything you can bring for the meal- this is a good way to find out what the meal will be. If she says salad make your salad and everyone will eat it. Shoot make a chef salad- that way you can have everything you need in one dish. Bring some deviled eggs- everyone loves deviled eggs.

      Make it work for you.

I suggest that you start keeping track of everything you eat and the amounts- right down to the carb, protein, & fat counts. You need to see what works for you. The whole idea of Atkins is learning about your body and how different foods effect your body.

      Good luck,

      Julie

If I have a "cheat day" I figure it will set me back about 3 days to get myself right. I've been doing this for almost a month. I did a clean induction and then I had a cheat day. Not proud, but it happened. It set me back 3 days and then I had a cheat meal due to poor planning on my part. It also set me back 3 days. I have been doing this for four weeks, but a week of it was make up time. I'm still losing weight, so I'm happy.

Sometimes we accidentally mess up, other times we intentionally tell ourselves we 'deserve' that yummy. I found myself quite deserving last Fall and gained 13 pounds! It happens. The important thing is that you get back on plan...then you'll feel better. Good luck!
