  • I'm so mad I could scream

OK- My husband is not doing Atkins (not that he shouldn't but he's not). He works out almost daily and is super strong but not well defined. He is getting into body building so this may cahnge.

At any rate I came home from doing some last minute errands and I looked in the fridge for the deviled eggs I made last night. I planned on eating one or two halves for snack while I am cooking lunch..... Well they are gone. I made 5 (so I had 10- 1/2 eggs). He has eaten them all in less than 18 hours.... I just want to kick him in the a--!

He did the same thing a couple of days ago when I made tuna salad. And again when I made chicken salad. I make enough for a few days and eat off of it.

I am going to have to get extreme revenge. I am thinking of what I can do. I already explained to him that he needs to ask before he takes my food. I am disgusted. I watched him make a huge breakfast and I can not fathom why he stole my eggs. I fried bacon, chopped onion very tiny, chopped extra sharp cheddar extra tiny. My point is I made them special for me. I hate eggs and I can only eat them well doctored.

Help! I might ring his neck shortly.

    Julie

aHH! Husband's can be so annoying!!! LOL!!

I can totally understand why you are annoyed. You will have to explain to him that you need these low carb snacks to hand and that he shouldn't make things difficult for you.

      Quick, go ring his neck!
So sorry, I felt your frustration.
Yes, you'll have to think of something to wake him up to how important this is to you. Just as important as it is for him to think he needs those extra carbs because he works out in the cold
I don't know what to say except communication is everything. Find a way to reach him to understand how important this is to you.
Your revenge can be not to buy any more carb laiden foods to have on hand for him. Cook the same way for him as you do for yourself.
Wishing you the best on this~

My famously sabotaging husband does this to me with my crustless pumpkin pie, and I hate that because it screws up my vegetable plans and counts. After a few times, I resorted to crying, he hasnt touched it since. Just a suggestion. (Might want to throw in there a little something like, is your hunger and selfishness more important than MY health...just for a little guilt and stuff)

        Good luck!

LOL...Trust me...husbands DO NOT want to see their wives cry...it's really annoying.

I'd mix in a little moist dog food in the next batch. Otherwise a few sprinkles of cayenne pepper should do the trick. Once he gets a bad taste in his mouth, maybe he'll think twice about trying another of your special treats

I'll never forget the time (pre-Atkins) when I saw some red Kool-Aid in the fridge and stole a sip only to learn it was hummingbird food! My wife also likes to make homemade suet for the birds which sometime uses peanut butter as an ingredient. They smell wonderful, but I've seen the lard and seeds that also go in so I've learned not to trust my eyes and nose...

                Kill him. Kill him now.

ONLY KIDDING! Sort of. Look, me being as manly as I am have an understanding of what is going on here. You may not like my answer, but I must give it. Your husband is a jerk. That is the way men generally are to some degree, but yours is not considering your needs, just his. As an added bonus, he is trying to become a body builder and his diet will ALMOST MIMIC YOURS (High protein, low carbs) so he will eat everything you will eat! The way my manliness sees it, you have two choices. Either threaten to rip off his marbles (that's only if you love him) or advise him how to make the food with you for the both of you ("advise" means sit his musclely butt down and show him what to do). You may want to go with the marble snatching though. Just saying.

I'd start making extra because if it's in the fridge, a man is gonna eat it. So, make double what you want, threaten him with death if he doesn't save you half, and go on your way.

When I lived with my parents, my mom would go grocery shopping for items for her and my dad. I would go grocery shopping for myself and get atkins things. Well Then I would come home and be like "where'd all the bacon go?!" and they'd be eating BLT's....

She knew that i would get meat and cheese, so she didnt buy any, and she would just eat minet. Sometimes there would literally be the string cheese I bought, and the potatoe chips she bought as the only two things left in the house and I would see her eating my string cheese. It got so frusterating! It's like, she can eat either, and I can only eat 1, so she should leave the one I can eat for me!

Every diet I've ever been on, I've asked my fiance Adam not to eat my food. He's really respectful. Any time he just happens to be craving something of mine, he'll ask me if he can have it. I think he does because he know it's hard for me to diet and I have to work hard. He's one of those people that can keep a six-pack on a diet of pizza and fast food and ice cream. I might suggest crying also. LoL. At least he'd then see that it makes you THAT upset.

I feel your pain! I keep having to go to the grocery store to restock up on lunch meat and cheese etc.... now suddently my extremely fit son is doing 'low carb' too! argh! This is the third time in a week I've gone to the store. Forget about keeping eggs in the house. We go through 4-5 dozen a week and only 3 people live here. We all eat eggs everyday for breakfast! And they love my low carb recipes, so when I think I'll have extra for my lunch? uh huh, it's gone! but all the carbs sit around and don't get eaten and I have to throw them away!

Re: I'm so mad I could scream

Well, he called me as I was making new eggs so I let him have it. He took me out for salads as a peace offering. He explained to me (quite sincerely) that he loves deviled eggs and mine specially. He ate them as a midnight snack last night. He said he couldn't stop at a couple. He lost control... haha.

Anyway I asked that next time he leave me 1/2 of what ever he wanted to eat unless he asks me first.

I don't think I will have this problem for awhile.

I can relate to the teenager. My daughter is getting really into fitness as well and she has been cutting back on the carbs pretty hard..... that is until she finds a slice of pizza. Still she has stared eating all my food as well as my husband. I'm like geeze guys! I am the one who needs to eat this way....

I did get in trouble for not having any bread in the house but now I am buying gluten free bread made from sprouts.... If they need to eat bread they are going to eat healthy bread.

They pretty much eat what I make, I just need to hide my special snacks better.

Some things just ARE too tempting.

When possible, I just avoid assembling. I have been know to leave put the empty egg halves back together and wrap, and tuck away a sandwich baggie with the filling. Now you just have unrecognizable cooking elements, not tasty treats. When I am ready for my treat, I fix it up!
