  • Here's a motivator for you

I had GREAT success on Atkins the first time. I lost nearly 100 pounds and had stopped most medications (I'm a diabetic, etc). After Thanksgiving, I went to the doctor and had to go on insulin for the first time. I was doing 4 shots a day. Since then, I have stayed on strict induction, lost 17 pounds and am down to one shot at night. I suspect this will be like before and, in time, I'll get off the insulin completely. HERE'S MY MOTIVATION REMINDER-----

I taped to my bathroom mirror a picture at my largest(311) and smallest(215) and glued an insulin needle to it. It's a daily reminder why I have to do this and stay successful.

I wish you all the best in find a motivational reminder as well

    Peace......

That's a great idea! I'm not diabetic, so I have no needles, but I'm gonna go find two pics of me! And, some scotch tape!

      Very cool idea.

My husband has been off insulin for a couple of years but does take a small injection of Byetta and still takes 1/2 dose of Metformin (as well as a host of other preventative meds) daily.

Exercise does matter as well as the food. Atkins is really a healthy choice for diabetics.

      Good luck,

I'm a pill popping diabetic (2 glyb/metformin 5/500 a day and 1 metformin 500 mg a day) but I'm hoping I can get off them in a few months. I've noticed in the 2 weeks I've been on Atkins how my blood sugars have become very level each day. Instead of being in the 150 - 160 range I've been in the low 100's and more days I've been under 100.

I'm also on blood pressure, cholesterol and trigliceride meds that I want to get off and hope getting my weight off.
