  • I Need Help With Legal Veggies

My schedule has been really hectic for the past few weeks so I've relied on running to the store to just grab things as I go. Buying frozen veggies is a snap. Just grab a bag of what you like and go. No time-consuming inspection required....

    ....well, so I thought.

Today, every bag I looked at had sugars! 1 sugar, 2 sugars, 3 sugars; 1 carb, 2 carbs, 3 carbs, per serving.

What are the most popular legal veggies I can have and what about the sugars contained therein?

    Thanks in advance.

Those are sugars naturally occurring in foods, don't worry about them. All you have to avoid are added sugars.

But aren't those naturally occurring sugars the same type found in fruits?

Except there are many many more in fruits without as much fiber. This is why fruit is up on the rungs, but not *very* high up.

          Hello Success,
When buying frozen veggies look on the nutitional lable for added sugar. If it doesn't list any added sugar and still list a sugar content, that means the sugar is occuring naturally, which is okay.
Sugar comes in many forms as in HFCS, dextrose, honey, MSG, sugar, cane sugar and so on. Those are the types of sugars to look for when checking the ingrediants.
I prefer fresh veggies myself. That way I know exactly what i'm getting. Just stuff a bag of fresh veggies and go, no reason to inspect ingrediants because i'm just getting fresh veggies without additives. Steam, saute, broast, grill......and serve. Fresh is just as convenient as frozen. They are as nutritious and you get a much bigger variety than frozen.
You will find shopping the outer perimeter of your grocery store will be much healthier than the inner isles or frozen food department.
          Hope that helps.
          Sincerely, Sherri

I understand. I went into some weird panic attack for nothing. Hee-hee, I can laugh about it now. You should have seen me, throwing veggie bags all over the place looking for no sugars. The only thing I found and bought was spinach because it has -1 sugars.
