Okay, so today is exactly three weeks and I'm still doing induction. The first week I lost 14 lbs and the next 4 and today 2! Now I know I'm not going to have 14 lb losses every time but 2 lbs! I work my butt off at the gym 4 days a week religiously. Weights and cardio. I swim, run, and bike. I'm getting ready for a triathlon in May, that's why I do all three of those. It seems that weight should be falling off but as you can see its not. Not sure where the problem is. I'm very strict and to the book more so than I have ever been. Any advice that anyone has would be great! My clothes are definitley getting big on me so I'm losing inches but why not weight?

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
You are doing Fantastic. Please be reasonable. It is very normal for your weightloss to slow down between weeks 3-5. And also during induction you loose a lot of excess water while you are detoxing. 2# a week is great.
How many weeks, months, or years did it take you to gain the weight?
Muscle weighs more than fat so if you are working out your muscle gain can affect your scale as well. But if your clothes are fitting better then maybe you should start taking your measurements and keeping track of those loss's for more motivation.

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
Don't get discouraged! You are doing great. I have read that the first two weeks of induction you will drop pounds quick but it says a lot of it is water weight. I know that the first time around when I was successful on atkins that it didn't seem as if I was dropping pounds (until later) but the inches were coming off. If inches are coming off like you say, then I thinks that is better news than the number on the scale. I think that inches coming off is the best results! Best of luck!!!

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
Thank you Julie and Georgiana for responding. I feel a little better now. I know most of it is water weight but it just seems that it should come off a little faster with the grueling exercise I've been doing. But I will continue on this journey, there is no quit in me. Off to the gym... thanks again!5'9 27y/o male

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
You're thinking about quitting because you don't think 20lbs in 3 weeks is fast enough?! I'm your age, taller than you, and would *kill* to lose 20lbs in 2 months... let alone 3 weeks.
Atkins isn't a *miracle* diet. Some of us workout everyday - weights, cardio, etc. and still don't see losses like you have seen in three weeks for *months*. Even when I weighed over what you weighed to begin with, and working out with weights and cardio 5 days a week, I *NEVER* lost weight that fast.
Honestly, I think you should be really proud/happy of what you've accomplished so far and keep in mind that you still have 5 months until your Triathalon. Even if you didn't lose any more weight, you'd still be in a much better place for this event than you were a month ago!27/f/5'10"

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
You could do a LOT WORSE..... I have been on Atkins since January 2nd, have 120 pounds to lose..... and I have lost 12 pounds with no cheating.
As I am one of the tough love people here, I say you need to temper your expectations and just be thrilled at 20 pounds in 3 weeks.
You don't think 20 pounds in 3 weeks is "weight falling off"?
Still, I wish you success, but honestly, there are people on this site who are shaking their heads at your post for sure.
Good luck.I'm a father of twin daughters, whose main goal in life is to set a positive example for them.

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
First of all to Lyssie, I never said I was thinking of quitting, no way! I guess was discouraged which I should have never been in the first place. As I honestly realize now after reading my new buddy's comment (Papa Deuce) of "tough love". I must say... expectations are tempered. 20# is huge! I thank you both for your time, and slapping me back to realality.

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
Sorry, I think I've been reading way too many posts of people being disappointed with "only" losing 20lbs and hearing people ready to quit because of it where I jumped to a conclusion. I'm just tired of shaking my head at the posts. :P27/f/5'10"

Re: Disappointed but shouldn't be.
A 20 pound loss sounds like huge pie-in-the-sky dreaming for me.
This week I lost 0.6 pounds.
Heck, at this point, two pounds a week would be pure heaven!
