    Re: Will it work again?

I also lost all my weight back in 2003 when it was the thing to do!! Of course, I reached goal and then thought I was smarter than Dr. Atkins and would never gain it back. Sigh. So, here I am.

I do think that it is harder this time around. I think that there are two reasons for this. (for myself anyway)

The first one is that yes, we are older. Darn it. It is just harder to lose it the older we get. Even just five years older makes a difference. I will be forty this year...

The second reason is that if we did Atkins correctly the first time around, we reached rungs where we were able to have nuts, a glass of wine, whole grains, etc. We have a memory of Atkins that is not how induction works. Those little higher rung items can sneak into your diet too soon if you aren't careful.

This time, I have re-read the book, cover to cover. My best advice to anyone is to read the whole book. All of it! It is soooo important to understand how maintenance is going to work before you get there. Do not find yourself at goal (as tempting as that may be) without a clear idea of how to do this for life.
    149.8/no weigh/ 119

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)
