Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Good morning all! I missed roll call yesterday for the first time and gained two pounds! Skipping roll call is hazardous. I actually think it has more to do with spending the night in a chicken wing bar. We had a going away party for one of my Sailors and it was within walking distance from my house. Well, two quick beers and 10 wings soon became a 12 pack and 30 wings by closing time. All legal food, just not in those quantities. I'm sure it'll come right off. I needed a night out like that anyway.
More yardwork today is the plan. I'm gonna go back and read yesterday's roll call to catch up with everyone. Have a great day."...Health and fitness are more than just personal goals - they're gifts we give to the people around us. Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Hi Everyone, still here until Monday-if I have totally failed at Induction and lost nothing, I will have to reevaluate. Had asked in several areas of this whole website for some assistance and don't seem to be getting what I need. I showed TRACE ketones this morning but my clothes still fit the same and I expect my weigh in to be the same of 148-God I just hope I haven't gained. I may start all over and strictly go to just meat and eggs and force the salad veggies of mushroom, cucumber and celery and wrap meats for the rest of my salad veggies. I have really tried to balance this out and simply have trouble stopping to weigh all 3 meals exactly. I am either really resistant or should just give up altogether. I will stay here through March 9th (after 2 more weeks of hardcore induction) and then move into just starvation which has worked for me in the past. I have given this the most effort I can and I really must just not be up to the task as everyone else here seems to lose weight easily on this diet. Have a great weekend and I pray that I even see 1 pound loss on Monday so I don't want to give up.sigpicStart 2/9/09

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Cara, your story is starting to sound very familiar. Heidi(Babypiggy) actually gained 1.5 pounds during a clean induction. She moved on to the OWL rungs after induction and started losing weight. You also aren't following my instructions. I said I wanted you at 1700 calories. You were 1701 and 1691. What's up with that?

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
I actually think I am getting more than that, and my calories are too high! It's odd too as I am hungry during the day and not one who has to FORCE myself to eat...FIT DAY is a pain in the you know what but at least it helps me to count the carbs... I will not go onto OWL until I see a little progress-if I can't even handle 20 carbs, how could I move?sigpicStart 2/9/09

YOU CAN'T LEAVE US HERE WITHOUT YOU!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I feel awful that I haven't responded to you sooner!! Or maybe I have...heck, I don't know without researching! Come on, though. You're sounding like a stepmother threatening to leave the stepchildren!! I'll make keeping you here my project for the weekend. Your post makes it sound like you're here struggling all alone. You are NOT alone...your struggles aren't just yours. I've been stuck and up and down several (ToM) pounds....back and forth. The impressive losses have taken a hike and I have a long way to go!! All the while, I was being a good girl. My biggest cheat has been a glass of white wine on rung 3 instead of 5 on V-day. C'mon....let's fix this. I think you've already posted a menu. I'm going to have to search for it to look at it. My birthday is next month. I had a goal in my mind for that. Guess what? I'm going to have readjust the goal. Can't readjust the date!! I want you to see the results you want. Starvation is not the way there. It may have worked before, but at some point....it stopped working. You can do this. Let's figure out how!!Originally posted by cpb0214 View PostHi Everyone, still here until Monday-if I have totally failed at Induction and lost nothing, I will have to reevaluate. I don't even pretend to know the science behind why moving on to OWL works for some resistant people, but there are a few people on this site that didn't start losing until they went up a rung."...Health and fitness are more than just personal goals - they're gifts we give to the people around us. Thanks for the support! Here is my fit day link FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal:Â Public Journal
You know, I am nowhere near Perfect in the veggies, etc...but going to under 20 carbs and really adhering to it should have produced even a pound of loss for the most resistant. I was reading parts of the book again last night ans for needing (wanting) to lose 25 pounds, I should at least have had a loss of 2 or 3 pounds... I don't believe it has occurred. One thing that has been a real shock for me was to break one of my WORST habits of weighing in every day-had I done that this time around, I am sure I would have already given up. For me to just walk by the scale every day and not jump on is a miracle so I am willing to give it 2 more weeks and take whatever suggestions anyone has!sigpicStart 2/9/09

Don't give up Cara! We are all in this together. When I was on induction, the second month I had a complete stall but when I moved up to rung 1, I started losing again. It could be your body thinks you are starving it and by adding some more veggies, it will get over it. Whatever the problem, please give it some more time.

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Ok, so details, details. PM them if you want. Do you post all of your water intake on fitday? I don't, just noticed you did on one day and not on another. What is your daily water intake? When I've been desperate to see a loss on the scale, going crazy with water has produced loss the next day. How about exercise? What do you do and how often? ToM....where is he? Are you dead set against weighing today? Who knows what the scale would say? Wouldn't it be funny though....if things were a brewin and you didn't even know it? What would THAT do for your day??? Of course, you've already eaten and started drinking for today and I know I won't get on the scale after I do THAT!!! We're not letting you go....can you tell?? LOL!Originally posted by cpb0214 View PostThanks for the support! Here is my fit day link FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal:*Public Journal

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
You know, I keep forgetting to put in the water b/c it is something I don't think about- I do drink a lot, but probably not the 100 oz. I should every day. I know I can't add anything to water, but I will give it the old college try. I exercise for an hour 3 times a week, but if I wanted to do that more, I wouldn't bother with a diet. I HATE exercise, but at least I make the effort and take long walks with my Dog. My fit day looks weird I think b/c I make my version of a quiche with cream and cheese etc, and just put the ingredients in as a list. I am eating 3 times a day-under 6 hours between meals as the book says. 5 or 6 small meals for me turns into an opportunity to overeat and it is also more manageable with 3 decent meals. We have dinner out with Friends tonight and I got a look at the menu in advance-looks like I will have several options. Thanks again! As far as a weigh in right now, you are so right... I have to actually do that thing before i put anything in my mouth or it will drive me crazy. 2 more days and I will weigh in first thing Monday morning! Have a great weekend!sigpicStart 2/9/09

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Hi everybody, just home from vacation and found that I have lost another pound! I ate like a pig (a low carb pig), so was afraid I might have gained a bit.
Cara, I looked at your fitday, and from the foods you are eating, I can't tell how you are dispersing your protein throughout the day. It looks like you may be going a little heavy on the cream and sometimes the cheese. I have lost around 15 pounds since Christmas. I'm losing it slowly but am losing. Here's what I eat on a typical day:
Breakfast:
2 eggs (scrambled or hard boiled)
2 slices bacon
coffee and water
Lunch:
2 cups lettuce topped with a sprinkling of shredded cheese, a tablespoon of mayonnaise, and meat of some sort (a can of tuna, 8 ounces or so of taco seasoned ground beef or grilled chicken) and about 8 olives
coffee and water
afternoon snack:
one string cheese or a hand full of pork rinds
water
dinner:
Meat: around 8 to 10 ounces of chicken, pork, or beef
Small salad of lettuce and sprinkling of cheddar cheese, topped with mayo or ranch dressing
Vegetable: Usually I choose a large portion of one of these, and they are usually prepared cooked with real butter- cooked cabbage, cooked broccoli with stir fry peppers (topped with a bit of cream cheese) or about half a can of asparagus spears
water
evening snack: Sometimes I'm not hungry, but if I am, I will have about a half a cup of cottage cheese or a few ounces of pork rinds, and usually have a decaf instant coffee with 1 pack of splenda.
You can eat really well on this plan, and if you give it time, it will eventually work. I have gone the starvation route before myself, but when I stop starving myself the weight comes back. I can eat like this forever. When I was in Miami this week, I ate at restaurants 3 times a day and was able to find foods at every place I went that were low carb.
You can do this! I found that when I started eating a little cottage cheese about twice a week, that I started losing more weight. The body is a tricky thing, but you should lose weight eventually!!!sigpic starting 12/26/2008

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
Well, Cara, I hope you stay on the WOE since it is the healthiest way to live IMO. However, you said starvation has worked in your past and that's MOST LIKELY the reason you're not losing now. Starving yourself #$%^s up your body. Don't do that to yourself again. Eat healthy, be healthy. If you've done inductin correctly. I say move to OWL. I've talked to several people who only lost up to 1 lb. on induction and their first couple weeks of OWL dropped like 7 or 8. Sometimes if you eat too little carbs it will freeze your metabolism. I think in your case, especially with a history of anorexia, your body may have seen that you are restricting again and get panicked (sp?) and say "No! Hold on to everything she's trying to hurt us again!"
Eat HEALTHY. Move on to OWL. RELAX. This works. Trust it.

Everyone else!
I'm checking in!
The whooshie fairy is in town... Three days in a row?
I almost don't want to count the loss it seems too good to be true. It went from 166.8 to 165.6 yesterday to 164 this morning... It's awesome, but I've been skipping dinner too... Just been a busy little thing. I'll start eating dinner again and see if it slows or gains.
I hope not
Have a great day everyone!

Re: Roll Call 2/21/09
It's the first I've heard of the Whoosh Fairy, but apparently she visited me too. I was gunning to hit 297, stuck at 298 for a few days...and now I'll never get to see a 297 on the scale, because I leaped over it to 296.5 yesterday, and 295.8 today. It seems to be coming off at a good clip now, so I'll stay the course with what I'm doing.
Honestly, I really think I owe it to increasing my water (which is the toughest thing to do for me for some reason) to 100oz from 64, and increasing my fat by adding a little more olive oil to my sauteed veggies and salads, and frying my eggs in an extra tsp of butter. And damn if it all doesn't taste good too!!!
