  • It's the water, I swear.

    If water does absolutely NOTHING else for me, it makes me feel full. I drink a lot of water and I go to the bathroom a lot but nothing makes me feel like I'm really doing induction and really flushing the fat away like

    AMPING the water intake. A gallon before lunch. That's so cool and I'm so not hungry.

    I started drinking 150 or more of water on January 5th and all but 1 day since I have drank no less. After the first week I stopped going to the bathroom every 5 minutes and normally get up only once during the night now. I also drink water when I'm laying in bed watching TV before I go to sleep and before I go back to sleep during the night.

    I use to drink a pot of coffee a day by myself and when I wasn't drinking water I would go through 6 - 8 of Diet Rite. I tried to drink a can of Diet Rite the other day (I was outside cleaning the garage) and actually couldn't finish more than a couple sips of it...it burnt going down! Amazing - I bet the Diet Rite people are in an economic downturn just by my not drinking their product any longer...LOL!!!

    Keep up the great work with the water -- it's really so essential to this WOE and your health.

        I had a similar thing happen to me the other day too, Carole. I was at a restaurant and ordered a Coke zero. First one since I started Induction. I could only drink half. It was too sweet for me. Give me my H2O and I am a happy girl.

          lol i was gonna say when i drink too much water i end up feeling sick. I just get in as much as i can but i could never drink that much before lunch but good for you if you can!

            you can actually harm yourself or even die from drinking too much water, although someone drinking THAT much is pretty rare. The first time I did atkins, during induction I was SO thirsty one day I drank something like 320oz (almost 3 gallons) of water in one day, and subsequently had a horrific headache and felt foggy, sick, and disoriented. I was out of commission for a day before I felt normal again. The creepy part was I didn't even realize I had had that much until I stopped and thought about it because it was such a habit to constantly drink water. These days I have between 130-170oz a day and do just fine.

              I use to think I couldn't drink more than a glass of water a day -- it's a matter of setting your mind to it and doing it....I got a big glass with a straw and it goes where ever I do. It's really not that hard to do, you just don't drink coffee or pop, you put water in the place of those things. Try it for a few days. A lot of times when you think you are hungry you are actually thirsty.

                I can't imaging drinking THAT much water....you must not have done anything but drink all day. I drink 150oz a day and have since Jan. 5th when I started Atkins.

                The number of people who actually do damage to themselves by drinking too much water is very small...but there are some who have. Dr. Atkins says AT LEAST 64oz a day of pure water - that amount won't hurt anyone. You have to be able to leave soda, tea & coffee alone and put water in their place. I use to drink 4 - 6 cans of Diet Rite a day now I can't get 1/2 a can down because it burns my throat and makes my stomach feel upset.

                  Actually, drinking even 3 gallons (or more) of water a day should not be a problem for anyone with normal kidneys. If you run a marathon and replace all your sweat (which has lots of sodium) with water (which does not have much sodium) or if you down 4 gallons of water all at once (read some stories about this being done as hazing in fraternities) that's when you could run into troubles. So drink up throughout the day with no worries.
