Re: Pick up a five pound bag of sugar/flour
...and you get a great work out
.
Then you can go to Costco and pick up a 25 pound bag of flour and carry it around the place for a while to see what that feels like.
Either one you choose, you'll never want to gain that back.

Re: Pick up a five pound bag of sugar/flour
Hi,
Big congratulations!! That is so great.
Yeah, I know what you mean. One of the things I do at the gym with the trainer is to go up and down the stairs (alternating steps on the way up) with 2 10 lb weights (1 in each hand) and it is heavy. That is 20 lbs and I've lost 35 so far. What a lot of 'extra' weight to be carrying around everyday. That 20 lbs of weight kills me going up and down the stairs.
Good for you. S-

You know, when I first did this four and a half years ago, I weighed about what you did, peaceful, and I remember the FREEDOM you feel at this point. Ain't it great? Good for you!!
I was in 18s when I started and it seemed like no time before I hit the 12s. I stayed in 10s and 12s for the past four years and then I quit smoking.

Re: Pick up a five pound bag of sugar/flour
At Christmas time I was wearing a size 20 and now I am in an 18 looking forward to getting into a size 16. I am not there yet...but can't wait.
I know that I have dropped a total of 19 lbs. - stacking that sugar in the corner in 5 lb. bags helps a person realize just what you are taking off. I love it. I can't wait to go to Costco for a 25lb. bag of flour. How does one become a butterfly?

Re: Pick up a five pound bag of sugar/flour
Hi Kelly,
Yes, I do feel freedom. But still, I have quite a bit to lose - my thighs aren't pretty despite pretty regular workouts for months - but for sure they are better. After 4 children my lower abdomen also needs work - again there is progress but...
I picked up a 22 lb sack of flour the other day - I've lost 1.5 of those. Man. That is a lot of extra weight to carry around.

I don't know what I am doing wrong...I have been walking 30 minutes a day on the dread mill... but my thighs will not go away. My jeans are baggy in the waist but I cant stick my thighs in them. Help! How does one become a butterfly?

Re: Pick up a five pound bag of sugar/flour
Hi All,
Kelly: kudos to you on kicking the smoking habit. During medical school we learned that nicotine actually activates more receptors than crack cocaine and thus, can be thought of as even more 'addictive.' Add that to the fact it is much more socially acceptable to have a cigarette than do crack.... Anyhow, I admire your determination - if you can kick that habit you can get down to the weight you want in a healthy way with good food and exercise. Very inspirational.
Shaunawa. Thighs are hard, but there is no 'runner' with unsightly thighs - keep with it. I find running gives those linear lines we are looking for. Another exercise I do at the gym with the trainer: take an exercise ball and lean it against the wall with your bum - now squat while leaning against the ball. Just do it as if you were sitting down - the ball will take your weight to keep you balanced and your legs do a lot of work.
