Good morning!! Sadly, I woke up at 4 am this morning! The dogs were happy about it though. It's going to be a chilly rainy day here so I plan on taking control of the housework today!! There's a workout in every room!!

Haven't weighed in yet this morning. Not sure if I will. I ate a delicious steak last night and passed out shortly after I ate it! Oops.

Hope everyone has a happy productive day!!

    Re: Roll Call 3/14/09 Saturday

Good Morning everyone, I'm back in Wonderland today. Ev, hit the scale, I need some company! I'm shocked that I'm in Wonderland because we went out for all you can eat ribs last night. I ate all I could. If you have Sonny's BBQ by your house, I would highly recommend it. It's a meat fiesta, just skip the BBQ sauce. Even the hot sauce has 10g carbs per 2 tbs. I checked before diving in.

I have been spending some time in the introduction forum lately. I know our "little group" here has been expanding every day, but there are tons of people in that forum that could use our help. Welcome to STAC guys! I think STAC could easily become the largest of the forums on this site. Almost every introduction thread starts off with "I did Atkins XX years agou and lost a ton..." I was going to ask the mods for a sticky thread to guide people our direction, but there already is one there. I know finding out about STAC and hanging out with all you fine people has made a big difference to me.

I have a huge day of housework/yard work today. My world is a mess. My daughter is in soccer and my son is in baseball. I basically get home from work, change clothes, take them to practice (Monday - Thursday), get home around 8, cook dinner, and go comatose. My kitchen is a disaster area and my yard is a jungle. The laundry is everywhere. I'll get everything all caught up today and tomorrow so it can start all over on Monday.

Hope everyone has a more exciting weekend than that.

    T. J.

Just curious, did you eat any sides at Sonny's? They have a decent salad bar. We went for BBQ yesterday and I had a big plate of pulled pork with no sauce. It was really good but my husband had the slaw and fries. Oh, and his pork was on a buttered and toasted bun. Anyway...

I'm going to my great uncle's funeral today. I went to a bridal shower the day before we started our induction, oops, I mean Regimen to Jump Start Weight Loss, and now I'm five or so pounds lighter. The extended family won't recognize me.

I tried the southern green beans but they tasted like crap. They were the only side that looked low carb friendly. I wanted to have the chicken, but it comes "lightly sauced" per the menu, and that scared me off.

I've had Sonny's green beans before. They weren't bad. Eating out can be really challenging.

I went to Bob Evan's one time and ate a double helping of green beans. When I got home I looked up the carb count on their website. Each serving had six grams of net carbs. I was blown away. I guess they add sugar...

Even some of the steak houses dust their steaks with sugar before they are grilled. Added sugar in the steamed veggies and don't even get me started on the salad dressings!!!!

I think what strikes me about the STAC is that we are a lot less rigid and judgmental than the rest of the board. Everytime I venture outside of STAC, my blood pressure rises and that ain't good.

I was reading a thread earlier and someone was kind of discussing using fresh cheeses like ricotta. Someone jumps in "oh, you're not doing Atkins, you're doing the kelly diet. That's not atkins and don't call it atkins. You can't pretend to know more than Dr. Atkins, blah, blah, blah."

You don't think that drives people away? And not to mention, I was reading the 02 DaNDR last night while my hubby watched Ghost Adventurers and the good doctor SPECIFICALLY says that ATkins is a personalized program and each person has to figure out how to make it work for them.

I'm upstairs and the book is downstairs or else I'd type directly out of it. Anyway, that's why I personally like to stay here in the STAC... We seem to get left alone over here.

              Re: Roll Call 3/14/09 Saturday

Good morning STACers! I'm on day 3 of induction and doing pretty good. I lost 3.5 lbs. yesterday but gained .5 today. I intentionally went to maintenance for the holidays and haven't been able to get things moving since until now. I hope to do a 14 day clean induction.

It doesn't sound like any of us are going to have an exciting weekend. I have 2 people coming to have their taxes done.

              Have a great day!

                  Re: Roll Call 3/14/09 Saturday

The mods and others who preach the strict atkins adherance are doing their job. This site was set up for that purpose and it serves it well. This particular forum is geared towards "veterans" who know the rules and also have a good understanding of what detours from the map will do. There are just so many things that everyone reacts to differently ie sugar alcohols, nuts, booze, diet sodas, caffeine, that people in this forum know how their bodies process. I would definately not advise people in other forums the way I advise people here. Outside of this group, the newbies need the "by the book" answer. Tom pays the bills for this site, and Tom would like us veterans to keep the newbies following the 2002 DANDR plan until they have the knowledge of this WOE to make informed decisions for themselves. In this forum, I can talk about the positives of michelob ultra therapy and how it works for me. Someone on day 3 of induction wouldn't benefit from a post like that, it might lead them astray. In this forum, people probably have a good idea that it might not be good for them.

                    Re: Roll Call 3/14/09 Saturday

TJ, I just think that there are ways to "preach the book" without turning people off. Imagine that you are brand new to Atkins, brand new to this board, going through Induction Flu and YOU get slammed in a post that you wrote. Nah, don't need it.

I think this bulletin board is extremely influential and extremely informative. I believe I am where am I because of it. I just think that "people skills" are important, too. Not just having the knowledge and presuming to speak for Doctor Atkins.

Good morning everyone! Congrats to you TJ and EverLosing for reaching Onederland status! I hit Onederland a couple days ago, but I was only seven pounds away when I started so I figured I wouldn't make a huge deal out of it, although it did make me really happy to see it happen so fast! Its been so long that I had forgotten how quickly this WOE takes the weight off. I LOVE IT!
We have my stepson this weekend and he has his very first horseback riding lesson today, so Im super excited for him! We're actually gonna have some decent weather here, but our house is a disaster area, so I'll be inside cleaning alot. I cant wait until it gets WARM. But I live in Michigan, so that might not be until, oh June or so. lol.
Hope everyone has a great day!

                        Good morning, all!

DH and I hit a couple of flea markets this morning .... the best description of flea markets that I ever heard was: "A bunch of useless crap that no one in their right mind would buy." That about sums it up! Heh.

I got up this morning, and i'm down to 189 - but i'm not going to enjoy it. I'm certain it's simply dehydration, judging by the feel of my head!
