  • Forcing myself to eat!

Gah. On day 7 now. For the last 2 days, i've not only had no hunger, but I have no interest in even looking at food. Its making it difficult to eat all my veggies. Yesterday all I had for breakfast was 1 egg. Lunch was leftover scrambled eggs from the day before with lots of veggies in it, maybe half a bowl. I forced down a slice of jicama too. Dinner didn't happen until around 10pm when I MADE myself eat a salad of lettuce, tomato, and a tiny bit of ranch with 5 little grilled chicken wings. And today its 12:30 and all i've had is 2 tablespoons of flax cereal with cream.
I know I need to power through and eat what I need to eat, but at the same time it seems like its a step backwards to eat when you're not hungry. It seems like its a bad habit to get into, especially for people who used to eat when they were just bored.

    Thoughts?

Ditto! I'm having the same problem. I just finished my 2 week induction on monday, losing 13.5 lbs but yesterday I did all I could and only got in 1050 calories though I was still able to keep my fat/protein/carb percentages within guideline. Today Im FORCE eating and I nearly gag just swollowing the food. I worry most about crashing my metabolism with low daily calorie totals. Sadly today I am looking through my foods and fit day trying to get the most legal calories with the least amount of food volume. I fried up a hamburger (to help keep the fat content higher vs. grilling) for lunch with a salad and it was painfully difficult to finish eating it.

I have to agree with you, I worry about eating when I am not hungry at all. It seems counterproductive. I keep faith in the process and as difficult as it is I am now forcing myself to eat. The thought of dinner tonight makes me queezy already!

On a positive note, I've dropped another pound and am now down 14.5 lbs in my 2 weeks 1 day on plan...Yipee!!

hah thats exactly what I just made for lunch! I fried a hamburger patty and ate it with lettuce, some sliced squash and onions, and i drizzled the fat from the pan over the salad. But now I feel totally stuffed and want a nap. I guess I have to start forcing myself to eat a little more in the morning so I won't be trying to cram in all my veggies later in the day. I love salad, but eating 3 cups of veggies in 2 meals isn't very much fun on my tummy

Congrats on the weight loss for both of you! One question: are you exercising? If not, think about doing something physical, as it will increase your appetite.

            Re: Forcing myself to eat!

It's normal to have a decreased appetite. I hit a mini plateau shortly after induction where I had problems getting enough calories. The key is not necessarily to increase the amount of food you eat, just make it more calorie dense. Add butter. Cook in olive oil. Toss some milled flax seed in your food. Fat is your friend on this WOE, give it a hug.

              Re: Forcing myself to eat!

The last time I did atkins I had trouble getting in all my fats, so trust me, i'm getting more fat than anything. Thats probably why i'm not hungry to begin with, fat is what makes you full. p.s. I had the carne asada steak and steamed broccoli last night at Chili's, and woke up a pound lighter. Wee! ok its morning, must eat must eat!
