  • Easter Candy Confession

I'm soooo tempted by those rows and aisles of Easter candy. I was even there examining the Splender and low-sugar candies carb count. Luckily they ranged from 18 grams to 32 grams of carb per piece of candy. Those high carb counts brought me quickly back to Induction reality. I'm going to be careful not to go down those candy aisles any more. My weaknesses are any chocolate candy, Atkins bars and Atkins candies. None are allowed on Induction so that gives me some control to say NO for now.

Good for you for not giving in. Staying out of the aisle is definitely the easiest way for now. After a couple of weeks it won't look as appealing as a smaller dress size.

When you reach for that chocolate look in the mirror and ask yourself what is more important - your health or that piece of sugar. My health wins out everytime! You are the one who holds power over food -- not the food, you just have to ask yourself if it's worth it or not....to me NOT is the answer.

Ironically, the Easter candy doesn't bother me at all. The Halloween candy, however....ooh, that's hard.

Chocolate cravings can be ameliorated with magnesium. Get a good grade of magnesium that is easy to absorb, such as citrate, glycinate or malate, or magnesium chloride or magnesium lactate (not oxide). Magnesium oxide is not absorbed very well, so should be used for constipation.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thank you for all your encouragement . Guess what I received in the mail today! Hershey Park, as in Hershey Chocolate factory, sent me vacation literature. Hershey PA smells of Chocolate. Now guess where I'm not going for vacation! LOL

You should live in sight of a Hershey's Chocolate factory and hate the smell of chocolate like I do. When I lived in Stuarts Draft, VA, they built one about a mile from me--I was on a hill so I could see it. I used to walk 3 to 6 miles a day, but when they were venting the chocolate smell and the wind was blowing my direction, it was all I could do to hold my breath and take a short cut home. I think I must be the only female in the world that hates chocolate.

We all have to choose between the short lived pleasure from a chocolate bar, and the lifelong satisfaction of a healthy, lean body. Congrats on resisting temptation!

I think if I lived near a Hershey plant I could get high just off the smell.

I have never been a big chocolate fan but I love 85% Lindt chocolate (5g net carbs for two squares). I have also just bought 100% pure cocoa which I believe is 0% carbs but need to check. You grate it on your food. There is no sugar in there at all.

Cocoa powder has carbs. One tablespoon has 3 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fiber.

Ugggh... Ive been having this problem for weeks. And just like Sandy, Reeses peanut butter eggs are IT for me. But whenever I feel temptation coming on, i just repeat a phrase to myself that Ive seen around here many many times - "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" Its working so far!
