    Good morning, everyone!! I've been down to 194 for a few day so I'm claiming it! The even better news is I bought a new scale because my old one was acting psycho and the new one seems to weigh in higher. Oh, well...I'll wear it out too, eventually.

    I've gone back to fitday to watch my percentages and even my calories. I've never had to do that before but it seems to be helping. If I keep the caloric intake around 1500 per day, I lose. That's tough to do as I walk at least 5 miles per day between exercise and my normal day. It just means finding a way to squeeze the fat into what I eat while simultaneously watching how much butter, mayo and dressing I use. Every tick of a pound down makes goal look attainable!

      Ev, congrats on 194! It has shown up for me a few times, but I'm not claiming it because I've had a few 196 and 197's in there too. Maybe next week.

      Busy day planned today at work, but I'm going to medical this morning to get the results of my lipid panel I took on Friday. I am trying to get one drawn every two months just to track how I'm doing. I have another year of free medical, so I'm using it. I'm also getting screened for surgery to correct my GERD. I have been on 40 mg of Nexium a day for about two years, and my doc said there is a surgery that can fix it. I think I'll look into it.

      I sent my first text ever yesterday! I feel so grown up, yet like a kid all at the same time. We just got new phones with a full keyboard and a texting plan. I always hated getting text messages, because calling is easier. Whenever the younger folks that work for me send me a text, I always just call them because I don't want to try and decipher the crazy symbols/numbers they use in place of words. I only sent her a text because she was in class and couldn't receive phone calls. I guess they do serve a purpose, but I don't think I'll be doing it a whole lot.

          Good Morning... The scale is moving down...YAY..its been stubborn.. But I don't claim any loses until Sunday...But it will help me resist those cookies at work...lol

          TJ...There is this nice place on the cell that lets you click on numbers and it ends up being a word... Its called Word on my phone but something else on the kids.. But I have become a texting pro.. Well not quite like my kids...but pretty good at it..lol

          Everlosing...Sorry about those scales weighing you more.. I honestly don't think there is 1 good accurate scale out there.. but as long as we keep going down that is what matters

          Glenda...we had the major rain yesterday.. When I went to the Chiro I had to come home and get dry shoes for work...Because the water was totally over my shoe!

          So this seems weird....to say this.. But I am WORKING today...lol But don't go in until 12.. I think I am going to see about working at 10 from my regular schedule so that I can still go to water aerobics.. I am not getting to the Y quite yet this week..trying to adjust to everything

            Good morning everyone! I just found this board so I figured this would be a good post to jump in on. My name is Shell and I live in CT. This is my second time doing Atkins. The first time I lost 100 pounds easily in 9 months. I was able to keep in off for a while until my husband became an alcoholic and my life fell apart. I was so worried about him that I gave up taking care of myself and shoveled in tons of high carb foods. The worse he got, the worse I got. I ended the relationship in October after alot of soul searching. I loved him, but I couldn't go on living life as I was. wondering where he was, when and if he was coming home, if he was crashed into a tree on the side of the road somewhere at 3am. It took me some time to recover but thanks to Alanon, I am ready to move on and take back control of my life. I started induction again about 2 weeks ago and though I am staying under 20 carbs and walking 1 to 2 hours a day, I have only lost a few pounds. I remember losing 20 pounds my first month the first time around.

            This time, I go to bed proud of myself for having a perfect day and wake up disapointed when the scale doesn't move or I gain a pound or 2. Gaining? I don't get it. How can I be 2 pounds lighter the day before? Take yesterday for example. I weighed in at 256. Breakfast was 3 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, and one slice of American cheese - 4 carbs. Lunch was chicken salad - 0 carbs. Snack was a cheese stick with pepperoni. - 1 carb. Dinner was a steak with blue cheese and a bit of yellow squash - 7 carbs. Late snack was an atkins bar - 2 carbs. I walked over an hour. Today I am up 2 pounds? I don't get it and I am getting so disapointed. I know this can work. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. Im not giving up, but I just want to cry. I have reread chapters on Metabolic Resistance and I am going to cut back my carbs and see what happens. But all of the emotional effort and attention I am giving this makes it so hard to stay positive when nothing happens.

            Well that's my story. Im glad to have found this board and I am looking forward to meeting everyone and posting daily.

              Welcome Shell.. First STAY OFF THOSE Scales.. Do not be obsessive weighing in every day... You could have had too much salt one day and not the other.. Get rid of those Atkins bar.. Most of us on the board do not believe in those...they just cause all sorts of problems...

              I lost 12lbs my first week, then 1, then 2 and then 0 but the scale is now starting to move again.. It will for you too!

                welcome to STAC shell! My advice would be to get rid of the processed cheese, bacon, and atkins bars. Its very common to stall or gain in the few weeks after your initial induction, even if you are eating perfectly. I started at 226, went down to 216, then back up to 220. so I cut out all the processed sausage and bacon and salty things like that, cut my cheese back to 1oz or less a day if any, and use splenda maybe once every few days instead of every day. I also upped my workouts a -lot-, and All that weight I'd gained came off in about 6 days. Make sure your fats are high enough too, at 65%. Fitday.com is the best tool for that!

                  Welcome aboard Shell...I agree with Sandy, drop the atkins bars for a week and see what happens. It could be that they worked for you in the past, but not this time arround.

                  EverLosing...sounds like a great new weight! Congrats!

                  TJ...I'm a texting fiend...but not as bad as a teenager...and I hardly ever use the shortcuts. Those kind of annoy me...I'd rather read the whole word.

                  As for me...my scale is obnoxious right now , but I'm still eating well and still rocking the ketones. I went ahead and went back to my normal water pill dose today since they upped my potassium yesterday. I'm up 3lbs on the scale....but maybe after today's regular water pill dose those will be gone. My ankles look bad but not horrendous...but I can surely see the 3lbs.

                  I'm wearing that heart monitor and NATURALLY did not have an episode this morning for it to record. One more morning to catch it. In the mean time, I can't shower....and becuase I can't shower I don't feel much like working out. My hips are killing me from workouts anyway...I'm gonna go to my physical therapist and have him evaluate my use of the elliptical to see if there is something I'm doing to make it hurt so bad in the days that follow. Because of my spinal cord injury, it's not a fluid movement...the pain is really annoying. I can't remember if he has an elliptical in the office for me to use so he can see what I'm doing wrong though. Oh...how I long for the days of house calls! What I wouldn't give for someone to build a customized exercise program tailored to my physical limitations and available home equipment.

                  Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                      Have not been in here in quite a bit, I'm in love and finding I spend all of my spare time with my new friend. Still trudging along with the weight loss and have not run into any problems with trying to stay true while going out, I just order appropriately and love that he doesn't try to coax me into cheating. That has been really great! Hope you all have a great day. I'll try to be more consistant in coming and checking in. It does make me feel better.

                      Shell - Make sure you read the book, 2002 version. Eat your 20 carbs. Just make sure you get most in the form of your green leafy vegetables listed on induction. Drink your water and loose the atkins bars. It really helps me to have ready made snacks available as veggies cleaned and cut. String cheese. Welcome and I wish you luck.

                        Hi everyone! Didn't check in yesterday because it was a very hectic day at work and then I had to go get my car repaired - argh. Anyways, still kickin' and I can't wait for the three-day weekend! (We have Good Friday off)

                            Hey everyone!

                            Haven't checked in for a few days. I'm going through some crazy insomnia issues right now.

                            You might remember that I was ravenous during my first week. I'm happy to report that my appetite is now suppressed. I'm loving it! I actually think I have to really start paying attention because I might not be eating enough!

                            Today is the end of my 3rd week and I've had a few mini wooshes. Yay.
                            I'm down 11 pounds.

                              Lots of losers around here these days Congrats to all of you!

                              Just spent the whole day at the City Courthouse - Jury Duty I have never been and it wasnt all that bad - for me anyhow. There were a ton of people there - I was one of the 20 or so that didnt get picked for Voir Dir (sp?) I studied most of the day which was good - I have a professional accrediation exam in 8 weeks and I am no where near ready!
